Mike Fuentes steps away from PTV after being accused of statutory rap.
A tour with All Time Low has also been canceled.
The band has issued a statement as drummer Mike Fuentes has left the band due to allegations of sexual misconduct.
The anonymous claims against Fuentes are said to have been made over a decade ago.He has stepped away from the band, as well as the upcoming UK tour dates with All Time Low.They say they are taking the allegations very seriously.
The drummer said that he didn't want the allegation surrounding him to negatively affect the band's reputation or future, or to break the bond and trust that they have created with their fans over the years.
We wanted to build a strong community through our music and provide a safe place for ourselves and our fans to express our shared values when we started this band.We have accomplished so much with the help of our fans over the last ten years.The bond that we share in this community is stronger than we could have ever imagined and is truly our pride and joy.
Recently, an allegation was made about Mike from an anonymous source.We want to share the steps we are taking in response to the allegation.
The entire situation has been difficult and disturbing for everyone involved, and I am aware of the allegation made about me almost ten years ago.I would never downplay the allegation.I am inspired by the number of people who have come forward and spoken out about their experiences with abuse.I am thankful that the world is finally starting to listen and that no one should have to suffer in silence.I want to assure you that I have never manipulated anyone in my life.I don't condone that type of behavior or how I was raised.I am sorry if I have made anyone feel like they are less than equal because I believe in the empowerment of abuse victims.
I love playing music and I am grateful for the support of our fans.I don't want the allegation surrounding me to hurt the band's reputation or break the trust that we have created with our fans over the years.I have decided to step away from my position in the band in order to allow my band mates and fans to focus on the music and message that Pierce The Veil stands for.I try to stand up for what is right even though I am not perfect.I will continue to work hard to live that way while away from the band.
The band has discussed how to make the PTV community a safe place.Over the years, we have made many efforts to protect our fans.We believe in creating spaces where people can seek help for any issues they are struggling with and provide resources and tools to help.
We are respecting Mike's decision to take a break.Without a core member of the band, we will be withdrawing from the U.K. tour with All Time Low.We will be back very soon.
