Step 1: It's necessary to recruit at least 4 helpers.
A large hot tub can weigh up to 1,000 pounds, so you will need a lot of helpers.You should have 4 people lift the hot tub, and another person slide dollies under its base to help guide it.It's important to have enough people on the deck.You should hire professionals if you don't have enough helpers.You should know how to drain and connect your tub.After you install the tub, invite your helpers to a hot tub party.
Step 2: Rent a truck that is large enough to hold the hot tub.
If you want to move the tub to a different location, you need a truck.Rent a moving truck that can accommodate your hot tub.Rent from a home improvement store or look for a local rental company.You won't have to lift the tub high off the ground if you go for a moving truck with a ramp.
Step 3: Make sure you have blankets and moving straps.
Rent straps and blankets from your truck rental company if you don't already have them.You will need at least 2 or 3 large blankets to cover the tub and 4 straps to secure it to the inside wall of the truck.
Step 4: A pair of furniture dollies.
There are platforms with 4 wheels and a non-slip top.If you want to purchase a pair of dollies from your local home improvement store, ask your truck rental company if they have them.
Step 5: If you have to use stairs, rent an appliance dolly.
Furniture dollies can be used for flat surfaces, but can't go up and down stairs.You can rent an appliance dolly from a truck rental company or a home improvement store.
Step 6: You can get 4x4 lumber boards from a store.
When you unload the hot tub, you can rest it on 4 lumber boards.They will make it easier to center the dollies and make sure no one gets their fingers stuck during unloading.
Step 7: The electrical outlet needs to be disconnected from the tub.
The power cord needs to be coiled after the hot tub is unplugged.Put the cord inside the tub's storage compartment if it has one.If the cord detaches from the tub, store it in a safe place until you get to the new location.
Step 8: Attach a hose to the spout if you open the drain access panel.
You can open the access panel with aPhillips head screwdriver.You should find a drainage spout after opening the panel.Attach a garden hose to the spout and place the other end where you want the water to drain.Take the water out of the lawn or garden and put it in the street or gutter.Your plants won't like it.Double check your owner's manual for drainage procedures.
Step 9: You can open the valve to drain the water.
It can take at least 30 minutes for the water to drain.The tub should be dry with a towel after draining the water.The access panel needs to be closed after you drained and dried the tub.You don't want to lose the access panel's screws during the moving process.
Step 10: The cover needs to be removed.
If your hot tub has a cover, take it off and transport it separately.If you leave it on during the move, it will get damaged.Check your owner's manual for instructions on how to remove the hot tub cover.If you need to remove its hinges, be sure to keep the screws in a safe place.
Step 11: The tub can be moved over flat surfaces with furniture dollies.
Lift the tub off the ground so that the 4x4 boards can be slid under it.Furniture dollies are placed at the tub's front and back sides.The base of the tub should be flat on the dollies if they are centered at both ends.Attach your dollies to the hot tub with straps.Keep an eye on the dollies to make sure they don't slide out of position as you push the tub to the truck.
Step 12: If you have to climb stairs, use an appliance dolly.
You will need at least 2 or 3 people to lift the tub.Push up the side opposite the one that is on the ground.Two people are on the other side of the tub to make sure it doesn't tip over.To get the base of the tub to face the dolly, slide the appliance dolly under it.The side that rests on the ground should not have access or control panels.They might be damaged by the tub's weight.Wrap the dolly's straps around the tub and make sure they are secured tightly.Carefully lift the tub and dolly to put the weight of the load on the dolly's wheels.There should be at least two people guiding the dolly from the front and back.Make sure everyone is ready for the next step before you go up or down the stairs.
Step 13: Roll the tub up the truck ramp.
Line up the wheels of your furniture or appliance dolly with the ramp if you lower the moving truck's ramp.Make sure the tub stays balanced as you roll it up the ramp.Two people are on either side to make sure it doesn't tip.The side of the dolly with the handle goes up the ramp first if you use an appliance dolly.Have 2 people pull from the handle side of the tub and 2 to 3 people push it.
Step 14: The tub needs to be tied to the truck.
To flush the tub with the inside wall of the truck, cover it with moving blankets.Tie it securely with moving straps so it doesn't get damaged during transport.You are ready to head to your new location.If you use furniture dollies, place them under the tub.The weight of the tub will keep them in place.If you use an appliance dolly, you can keep it strapped to the tub, but you should take precautions to avoid damaging it during transport.Wrap moving straps around the dolly and tub to secure them to the inside of the truck.
Step 15: The moving blankets need to be removed from the tub.
It might seem like you should cover the tub with blankets throughout the entire moving process, but you're better off using them when it's inside the truck.You wouldn't want someone to lose their grip on moving blankets, even if they're taped or tied around the tub.If you have to navigate tight spaces, proceed slowly.
Step 16: The tub should be rolled down the ramp.
Move the tub to the edge of the truck and line the dollies' wheels up with the ramp after removing the moving straps and blankets.Make sure the tub doesn't tip to one side or the other as you roll it down the ramp.Two people are guiding the tub from one side to the other.
Step 17: The tub needs to be moved to the new location.
Carefully make your way to the tub.Before you roll the tub into position, make sure gates, doors, and other obstacles are open.
Step 18: If you have to, go up or down the stairs at a time.
If you have to deal with stairs at the new location, place 2 people in front of the tub and have 2 others manage the dolly's handle.Pull the appliance dolly so the handle side goes up the stairwell first.The dolly with the hot tub should go down the stairwell first.Make sure everyone is ready for the next step before moving.
Step 19: Remove the dolls.
You want to place the tub on the 4x4 boards.If you're using furniture dollies, you can lower the tub onto the boards by lifting it from the corners.Carefully lower the tub's base onto the boards if you're using an appliance dolly.Lift the tub from its sides and slide it out.No one will get their fingers caught when you lower the tub.
Step 20: The tub needs to be re reinstalled.
Now that you are ready to install the tub, give your team a pat on the back.Add sanitizing chemicals, connect it to electricity, and clean it.
