My whirlpool duet dryer wont start.

The Duet GEW9250PW1 began to act up recently. The main problem was that after running for a short period of time, the control panel would no longer work and the dryer would turn off.It wasn't possible to turn it on.This would happen randomly. If I unplugged the dryer and tried again the next day, it would return to normal and work for a while before the problem came back.

Other internet stories have reported symptoms, such as flickering or dimLED's, various switches not working, only some cycles operational, etc.Problems can usually be traced back to a flaky control panel.

The GEW 9200L and other models like the HE3 are very similar to this dryer. They all have the same parts. These models can often be repaired with the following repair.

The suggestion is to replace part number AP3775548 which is the control board, after a quick look around several of the appliance repair sites. The electronic control panel plugs into the board and controls the operations of the dryers. The control board is almost never a problem if the dryer works and the user interface responds intermittently. The control panel is the core issue.

The control panel has two issues, one of which is that the small micro-switches only operate intermittently if at all.The second issue is caused by the large number ofLEDs used on the user interface. In addition to providing feedback on what selections were made, the LEDs are also used to help multiplex the required signals back to the control board. There are poor soldered connections on the back of the control panel circuit board.

How to fix it?It is very easy.Refer to the repair manual for more information.

I just did it according to your instructions and it seems to have worked. Thanks a lot for sharing this information.

I did it on a snowy day.I got nothing. The white button on the top of the switches was the only thing I could see.I wondered if I should detach the boards so I could work from the other side.I get the same red light when I use the top left drying option.

It worked for me, except that the shield switch wasn't working. The switch was removed. The dryer is working again. We don't use the shield anyways.Thanks.

I have a whirlpool duet dryer and I am not getting any power at all. There were no lights or anything. Can you help me?Thanks.
