Nissan Versa: Radiator Fan Not Working Diagnosis...Nissan versa note radiator fan / cooling fan replacement...Radiator Fan not working, black wire loose.

One of the most important jobs on the vehicle is the Nissan Versa's radiator fan.The last line of defense is between you and an overheating engine. It's a serious problem if the fan isn't working.

It does not mean that the fan is malfunctioning. When needed, they are designed to run.The most common causes of this issue are if your car is running hot and the fan is not running.

There are a few reasons that the fan wouldn't cycle on.The fan can go bad, but that is not the place to start a diagnosis.

Before touching your fan, make sure to keep your hands out of its path.

The first thing that you would want to do is locate the fuse for your fan and make sure it doesn't blow.Replacing the fuse won't solve the problem for a long time if it is blown. The fuse will blow again if the wiring issue is not fixed.

The wiring harness can go bad.Your author had a shredded tire pull the fan wiring out of his vehicle. It can happen. The fan wiring is vulnerable.

You can check the voltage going from the relay to the fan.The fan should come on if it is getting more than 12 volts. The fan has gone bad if it is not.

There is a great video on how to properly diagnose a wiring problem.

Your engine temperature sensor is used to relay your engine temp. When the temp gets so hot, the ECU tells the fan to come on.The fan will not come on if the engine temp sensor is bad.

You will need to locate and test the engine temp sensor. The location depends on the model year and engine. They are very affordable if it is the sensor.

The engine will run hot if the engine coolant level is not high enough. There won't be enough coolant to get to the temperature sensor. The temp reading will be lower without the coolant hitting the sensor. The fan on your Versa won't kick on.

Don't fill it up until the engine cools off.If the engine temp sensor is not triggered, it can cause problems from a drastic temperature change. It's best to let it cool down first.
