One of the ways to find landmarks for a ventrogluteal injection is...

The preferred injection site for adults and children is the ventrogluteal. There is a muscle injected at this site. The site is free of major nerves and branches. The greater trochanter and iliac spine make it easy to locate the site. The site has enough muscle mass for deep injections. The last advantage of this site is that it can be administered from a variety of patient positions.

The patient should be told to relax the muscles prior to the injection in order to reduce the chance of pain or swelling.

If hypersensitivity were to occur, a tourniquet would not be able to be applied to delay absorption. The disadvantage to this site is that a healthcare professional is not familiar with it.

First things first. The location could be considered a private area for a patient as the pants need to come down a bit to locate the injection. The procedure should be explained so that the patient knows what's going to happen so they don't freak out.A child under 2 years old should not receive more than 1 liter of drug in the ventrogluteal site if they have well developed muscles. The gauge of needle is 21-25, with a length of 1.5 inches for the average adult, and shorter for skinny individuals and children.Larger patients may need a larger needle to make it through the fat.The angle of ventrogluteal injections is 90 degrees.

If the patient is on the right side, you would use your right hand to find the landmarks, if they are in the wrong position you will use the left hand.If you take your right hand and place it on their greater trochanter, depending on the length of your fingers, you can point your finger at the anterior superior iliac spine.Move your middle finger back along the iliac crest towards the buttock when your hand is in position. The injection site for a ventrogluteal injection is the center of the triangle with the index and middle finger.

I wanted to let you know that your information is incorrect. The vastus lateralis is the preferred injection site for children. If you are not a child expert, please refrain from giving information. Is it possible to change this information?

This is not a VG injection site.Take this video down because it is the dorso gluteal injection site.!

Is Ventrogluteal the same level as a straight hit to the side at a different angle?

I don't think I could imagine 5 liters going into the deltoid.5 ml will be put into a shoulder joint injection. This is not an injection and can only be given by a doctor.

Deltoids can take up to 3 liters, but most injections that go in adults are 1 liters.

The title of the video states how not to not give a ventrogluteal injection.

The upper outer quad of buttock is no longer recommended for shots. It's safer to use ventrogluteal. There is a lot of information in this video.

A really bad nurse puts 5mL into your deltoid. The deltoid is supposed to get less than 1mL.

6 mths ago, I was in the hospital with septicemia. The nurse panicked, my blood pressure fell and I was confined to bed for 24 hours after I got an injection.I can still remember where the injection was even though the lump has gone.I have burning, needles pain along the top of my buttock going into the centre and a sensation of shock on my lower right leg. These are getting worse.I have no pain in my leg.My GP thought the needle had touched my sciatic nerve.

Why did you do that? You should have divided the shot into two and used either deltoids or ventroglutel sites.Major tissue/muscle damage is the only major concern since you are still alive.Thanks.

I recently received an injection of 5mL in the deltoid, are there any risks I should be aware of?Where is the best place to inject a 5mL injection?
