Prosthetic makeup can be applied to make yourself look zombie-like.

You will learn how to make your own makeup pieces.A costume can be turned from basic to extroardinary with this project.

If you want to make a costume that is truly amazing, you will need to use special effects makeup.Prosthetic pieces are usually made out of latex and used by makeup artists for realistic illusions.

It is easy to create illusions of elf ears, scars, open wounds, horns, and more. They are often ill-fitting to the costume and the artist if you buy them cheaply. You can make your own makeup pieces if you want to take it to the next level.

A set of brand scars with spooky symbols will be used to make a custom artificial limb for my Halloween costume. You can either follow along and copy my designs or use the techniques I teach you to create a fake.

Do not use liquid latex if you have a latex allergy. There is a good resource on alternative materials here.

Prepare a flat space and lay out your waterproof sheet once you have everything collected.

You will open your packet of clay and start sculpting. The final shape of your piece will be the shape your clay takes. You don't need sculpting experience, just play with it and be creative!

Before you start sculpting, remove any rings. It can be difficult to get out of small crevaces in jewelry.

I used a butterknife and a washcloth for my branding scar.I used a butterknife to cut patterns into a thin piece of clay, then used my fingers to close up the cuts in a raised fashion.I used the washcloth to create the rough texture I wanted. It took some experimentation to get it right. You don't have to be afraid to try different things with your clay.

When you have your workspace ready, take the plaster of paris and mix it with water according to the instructions on the packaging. It's important to mix thoroughly to avoid clumps of powder.

Make sure the plaster has time to diffuse any bubbles by pouring it over the clay model.Make sure you cover the clay with plaster or plaster on top of it.There are 7mm to 26mm.

You can peel the clay from your mold once the plaster has dried and cured. The extra clay may have to be removed with a needle or toothpick.

I used a variety of materials to make borders for two of the three molds. In order to show you what would happen, I poured one mold free.I poured plaster over the models after securing them.I peeled out the clay the next day.

Make sure you have a clean space to work in, where latex won't hurt anything. You can put the latex in the upside-down mold.If the back of your mold is not completely flat, you can use leftover clay to level it.

Do not use liquid latex if you have a latex allergy. There is a good resource on alternative materials here.

If you have vaseline, apply a thin layer to the inside of your mold.Liquid latex should be poured into the mold.

Remove the artificial limb from the mold after 24 hours. It's important to be patient here.It will come out, but it may take a while.

Thank you!The world has never seen a makeup like that before. You now have a mold that will allow you to make more copies.

I put my liquid latex into my molds after laying out a clean workspace.I just poured latex on the plaster and didn't use any kind of lubricant for the mold.I peeled out the dried Prosthetics after about 24 hours.

I used spirit gum to adhere the piece to my skin and then painted it to look like a real scar.

This is a great example of a begginer. If you brush your latex in layers, and use a blow dryer to speed up setting between each layer, you will have a finished product faster. The second or third layer of latex will be less likely to tear if you add tissue to it.I agree with the comment.I don't know how many bald caps I've ruined for not powdering them.

What brush would you use to apply it?How do you clean the brush?

It is easy to use a disposable brush.Walmart has a mixed pack of brushed for $5.When I'm removing latex from the mold, I use an old blush brush to powder it.If you need to use a brush but can't throw it away, I would suggest cleaning it.It's important to wipe off as much as possible with a paper towel because latex dries quickly.Pull out any stubborn strings.
