All Critics 11, Top Critics 9, Fresh 10, and Rotten 1.

At its core, it's a funny, rowdy, poignant and entertaining chronicle of the emotional turmoil that goes on in the lives of a group of firehouse characters.

Rescue Me starts out this year by placing more emphasis on the humor, even though the juxtaposition of harsh drama and dark comedy is as seamless as ever.

One of Rescue Me's biggest shocks to date can be found in the last seconds of Episode 3.The series is not on fire all the time, but it hasn't cooled its jets yet.

Rescue Me talks openly about how women emasculate men.Rescue Me loses out on opportunities to deepen its story because women exist on the show to frighten men.

Rescue Me often misses the impossible. That kind of understanding of art and its mission is impressive.

The comedy is as strong as ever, but the series filled with repeat offenders can't kick its own worst habit: unnecessary melodrama.

Rescue Me genuinely cares for its weird characters and plot deviations because daytime serials toss in one-dimensional evil twins or random demonic possessions without a second thought.

The simple fact is that this is a good show, and if the premiere is any judge, the fourth season will be as entertaining as ever.
