Tennessee Hope Scholarship - NontraditionalHOPE (Lottery) Scholarship, One Stop Student Services, what does the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship pay for?

The net proceeds of the state lottery are used to fund the HOPE Scholarship, which is awarded to entering freshmen who enroll at an eligible postsecondary institution within 16 months after graduating from a eligible high school.

Two-year institutions with on-campus housing can cost up to $2,250 per full-time semester as a junior and senior.

Two-year institutions with on-campus housing can cost up to $2,000 per full-time semester.

According to the Uniform Grading Policy adopted by the State Board of Education, a grade point average on a 4.0 scale is the average of internal quality points awarded for advanced placement, honors or similar courses.

A student who is otherwise eligible for the HOPE Scholarship but enrolls in an out-of-state accredited postsecondary institution either immediately after high school graduation or up to 16 months after graduation, can receive the scholarship.

Continuation at the out-of-state institution is dependent on the student having the HOPE Scholarship.Eligibility requirements must be met in order to get the appropriate cumulative grade point average.

The minimum requirements for out-of-state regionally accredited postsecondary institutions will no longer be met if the student drops from full time to part time or withdraws.If there is a documented medical or personal reason for the change in enrollee status, the student may appeal the ineligible status in order to restore HOPE Scholarship eligibility.Click here for more information.The out-of-state postsecondary institution cannot be appealed.

You can apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.The fall semester applications must be received by September 1st.It's a good idea to apply early.

The total attempted semester hours include all the hours after high school graduation.

The HOPE Scholarship can be given to a student who is in a program of study that is more than 120 semester hours in length.

A student with a documented medical disability and certified by a licensed physician who can only enroll part-time may appeal to the TSAC for an extension of the five year limit as long as the student continues to meet all applicable academic and nonacademic requirements for the HOPE Scholarship.Once the sum of years have exceeded the five year limit, a documented medical disability extension may be appealed by students who received the HOPE Scholarship in Fall 2009.
