The Department of Emergency and Military Affairs is located at Camp Navajo Army Base.

The United States Army has a training facility and storage depot in the area.The largest military installation in the state is used by the Arizona Army National Guard.Over the last seven decades, it has grown to become one of the most important training facilities in the United States Army Reserve and National Guard network.The base is technologically advanced and offers multiple training venues, but it is considered to be an intermediate training facility.

The primary role of Camp Navajo is to facilitate a wide range of training for United States Army, Reserve and National Guard soldiers.Training is provided to units of the US Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.The base's size allows it to handle units up to the size of full battalions.

The base has a full spectrum of training areas with ranges for personal weapons like M-16, M-9 and M-249.There are areas for armored training and maneuver at the base.The rugged area of the base allows units to train in a wide range of weather conditions.

As a storage depot, Camp Navajo also serves as a secondary mission.Several military and Department of Defense agencies use the secure storage facilities.
