The Hells Angels chapter is calling the P.E.I. home.

The men are accused of being affiliated with a criminal biker gang.

The nine men from P.E.I. were each charged with four counts related to lotteries and games of chance, including participating in any activity of the criminal organization.

The men are hanging around with the Hells Angels.

The men charged are believed to be members of the P.E.I., according to Brad MacConnell. They say the Hells Angels hangaround club is linked to the chapter in Ontario. The police are committed to ridding the province of outlaw motorcycle gangs.

According to MacConnell, these are the first charges under the Criminal Code's organized crime legislation. It was in recent memory.

Police said the men were arrested at their club after 9 p.m. and were held overnight.

The men appeared before a Justice of the Peace on Thursday and were released on condition that they don't have any contact with each other or attend their club.

In September, the Mounties issued a news release saying they were concerned about Hells Angels organizing on the Island.

In a joint news conference with police in January, Wade MacLauchlan said the province was considering a ban on fortified buildings and gang colors in bars in order to combat biker gangs.
