The Official Rules of the Taboo Game and how to play it.

Taboo is a verbal game played with two teams of three players or more, a deck of 502 guess cards with a set of taboo words, and a battery operated buzzer. Two AA batteries are required for the buzzer.

Six or more players are divided into two teams, with one being referred to as Team A and the other being Team B.Team A selects a person in their group to be the Clue-giver when 504 cards are placed in the card holder. The person puts the first card away from the team so they can't see it.There are two taboo words listed below the clue word on the top of the card.Clue-givers have to get their team to say the guess-word on the card without using one of the taboo words in their clues. If a taboo word is used, Team B must sound the buzzer which penalizes Team A by causing the current guess card to go into the discard pile.Play continues until time runs out. Each time a teammate guesses a clue-word, a new card is placed on the old and each card in this pile represents one point for Team A.

The team that doesn't give clues must watch for Taboos or other violations of the rules. If they spot a rule being broken, they can use their buzzer to play and explain it.Clue-givers need to place the current card in the discard pile and draw a new one. Each card in the discard pile is a point for the other team.Roles are reversed once time runs out.The game ends when each player takes a turn.A player on the smaller team will give a clue twice.

Rules 1.Clue-givers are not allowed to use abbreviations or any part of the taboo word.2.Sound effects and gestures are not allowed to indicate the clue word.3.Clue-givers can pass on any card at any time, but the card is placed in the discard pile.4.The final card is removed from play when time is called.

Team A gets one point for each card stacked in the card holder.Team B has one point for every card stacked in the discard pile. When time runs out, the final card is not worth a point for either team. The team with the most points at the end of each round is declared the winner.
