The Omelet should be flipped.

omelettes are a classic breakfast choice, but can be difficult to flip correctly.If you know the right way to use a spatula and pan and a few different methods, you can quickly flip the omelet and make it cook how you want.

Step 1: The edges of the omelet should have eggs that are white.

A good rule of thumb is to look for solidified eggs on the edges of the omelet.You have a short amount of time before they become too hard.Allow the center to solidify slightly by using medium heat.Sometimes an omelet that is well-done on the outside, but not perfect inside, can be made when the sides turn brown.

Step 2: The spatula should be underneath the omelet.

The side with the most cooked-through eggs should have a spatula about 1/3 of the way in.You may end up splitting the omelet in half if you put it all the way to the center.If you can't get the spatula underneath the eggs cleanly, you may not have used enough oil or butter to cook the omelet.

Step 3: Lift the side of the omelet to see if there are any breaks.

Before committing to the flip, make sure the side that you plan to fold stays together.You don't need to go any further than 1/3 of the way.If the eggs seem to break apart, either flip it from the other side or wait a few seconds longer to let them cook through more.

Step 4: Attach the omelet to the wall.

The omelet is ready to be flipped if the eggs are white on the sides and have begun to solidify in the center.To fold it in half, lift one side with the spatula and press down on the top to allow the center to stick together.Allow the side still on the pan to cook to a golden brown, then flip it and allow the other side to do the same.

Step 5: If you have a pan on each side, grab a plate that is 2 in larger than it is.

Don't use a plate the same size as your pan or smaller or your omelet will not fit and could spill over the side of the plate.

Step 6: The omelet should fall halfway onto the plate if you tip the pan.

You can slide it off without breaking it if the bottom of the omelet is solidified.You want to slide the omelet out, not drop it, if the pan and plate are touching.If you want to flip the omelet in half, you need to use the pan's edge.

Step 7: The other half should be folded over by the edge of the pan.

Carefully move the pan over the plate to allow the other half of the omelet to slide onto itself.If you accidentally drop the omelet by dragging it off the plate, don't raise the pan high.To push the omelet onto itself, use a slow forward motion.

Step 8: The far edge of the pan needs to be tilted down to get the 30 degree angle.

You can snap your wrist and flip the omelet.If you tilt the pan more than 30 degrees, the omelet will slip out and you won't have good leverage for the flipping motion.

Step 9: Make sure the bottom of the omelet is loose by shaking the pan.

If you want the omelet to slide around, gently shake the pan to make sure the bottom is solidified.It will make a mess if you flip an omelet that is stuck to the pan.

Step 10: The pan should be thrown in a sharp motion.

If you want to lift half the omelet, push forward to the halfway point and flick your wrist upward.Lift the far edge of the pan to fold the omelet in half.If you flick too hard, you could end up flipping the whole thing over, but you won't get a proper fold.
