The pendulum on my clock won't stay swinging.

1.The clock isn't balanced against the wall.If your nail is too big, the top of the clock will stick out further from the wall than the bottom. The pendulum will stop swinging if you try a different method to hang your clock.

2.The clock isn't level against the wall. The left side of your clock is lower than the right side. This will cause the pendulum to stop swinging if you don't use a level to level your clock against the wall.

3.The clock's swinging mechanism has a Pendulum on it.The pendulum may stop swinging if it is not placed correctly.Make sure that your pendulum is seated correctly on the clock's swinging mechanism.

4.The Cuckoo-Clock can encounter drafts.Don't put it near a vent from your air conditioning or heating system. Why?If air blows through your vent and hits your clock's pendulum, it could cause it to go out of sync.A draft could disrupt the gentle flow of the pendulum, so don't place it near a door.

5.There is a chain/pulley/gear system that works the pendulum. We forget that our homes are dusty. We own pets like cats and dogs.Dust can get inside our beloved Cuckoo-clocks and if they are not cleaned and serviced, the gears can become gunked up.Slowing down can cause the pendulums to stop swinging.

Before having my clock serviced, I would try the top four.Sometimes it's just because we hung our clock in the wrong place.Fix that and you'll have your bird singing.Your last resort is getting your clock serviced, and that can be costly.I always do it as a last resort.
