The primary differences between Caterpillar 3406E and C15 are the engine specifications.

Picking the right diesel engine model can be difficult. We can help you make a decision if you're considering purchasing a Caterpillar.

Before investing your money, you should be aware of the unique problems, differences, and specifications. You don't want to purchase an unreliable engine.

The Caterpillar 3406E is a reliable diesel engine. The engine is praised by many mechanics as one of the best. The 3406E began production in 1993 and people loved it.The semi-electronic 3406C engine was the first fully electronic motor in the series.

Many variations of the 3406 were released by Caterpillar. The 3406A, 3408B,3408C, and finally the 3409E were included. Both engines were fully mechanical. The C model began to have electronic functions with its fuel pump. The first fully electronic motor that worked well was the 3406E.They're still being used for many different applications because it worked so well.

The Caterpillar 3406E Engine Spotlight shows some of the history, serials numbers, and aftermarket improvements to the model.

The Caterpillar 3406E is a diesel engine that is bulletproof. As with all engines, there are a few issues that are well known.

There are oil leaks with the 3406E.There are a lot of leaks near the rear side of the engine.Caterpillar didn't use the best gasket during the production of the 3406E.It remained an issue throughout the early production of these engines, despite the fact that it was fixed in later models. There are hardened rubber plugs near the back of the engine block that cause these oil leaks.

It's important to consider the age of your engine.Time may start to play a role in these oil leaks even though the 3406E engines were unbeatable in their heyday.

The C15 was released in 1999.The engine is very popular because of it's reliability.Cat has a list of 34 applications that are powered by this engine. There are combines, harvesters, paving equipment, pumps, earth- moving equipment and many more.

The previous 3406E model was meant to be improved by this design.gasket upgrades and better seals were included in the improvements. We have a wide range of high-quality parts for the C15 available if you're in the market. The history, aftermarket improvements, and serial numbers can be found in our C15 Engine Spotlight blog.

Relief slots on the cylinder head were introduced by Caterpillar to help improve the 3406E diesel engine. The gasket was known to fail a bit more often after the slots were added.

To solve this, make sure you buy high-quality gasket. We have a selection of C15 gaskets that are built to strict specifications, giving you proper fit and function.

You won't hear a lot of good things about the C15's MBN prefix. There was a problem when Caterpillar released the MBN model. This model earned the nickname " Much Bad News."They ran at high temperatures and couldn't pull it off.

The C15 ACERT was created in 2004.ACERT stands for Advance Combustion Emission Reduction Technology. The air and fuel systems were the focus of the engine in order to meet the strict EPA emission requirements.

The C15 ACERT has a second turbocharger, which some people think is the only difference between the two.Right now, we have a range of new and remanufacted ACERT turbochargers. There is more to the ACERT than that. The piston design was improved by Caterpillar. The ACERT has a one-piece steel design, while the regular C15 has two piece aluminum skirts.

The C15 ACERT can be a reliable engine. There are some issues with earlier models.

Breakable rocker studs were a common issue at the beginning of production. Most ACERTs have updated studs, so this shouldn't be a problem anymore. There are issues with the exhaust manifolds. As well as the manifolds themselves, they break frequently.

This engine's injectors can be affected by age and fuel mileage.Over time, they have been known to fail.C15 ACERTs need to be well maintained.
