A good pair of shoes is an adult safety blanket.We get attached to them.We don't want to let them go for impostor slippers because they've gotten old and grimy.Fear not!You can extend the life of your slippers by cleaning them.
Step 1: Consider using a machine to wash them.
Cotton is a popular slipper material.All cotton slippers are washing machine safe.To make sure you don't shrink the slipper, use warm.Don't bang them out of shape with a gentle cycle.If you want to toss them in with the regular wash, use a washing machine bag.To dry, use a low heat setting.They can be allowed to air dry.
Step 2: Put warm, soapy water in your sink.
You can hand wash cotton slippers if you don't want to use a machine.The sink should be filled with warm, soapy water.A small amount of detergent will do.How much to use is up to you.
Step 3: Drop the slipper in and get them to move.
The soapy water should saturate the material.To clean the inside lining, use your fingers or a cloth.
Step 4: Allow them to sit.
The cotton won't be hurt by the soap solution.After giving the slippers a scrub, give them a good ten minutes to soak.The soapy water will change colors as it leaves the ground.
Step 5: The shoes have to be washed.
The water should be let out of the sink after the slippers have soaked.Give the slippers a thorough rinse after turning the faucet on at the same warm setting.If you rinse the slippers like you would a sponge or luffa, you will get excess soap out of them.To rinse them, you can refill the sink.Allow them to soak for ten minutes.You can rinse them under the running faucet to get all the soap out.
Step 6: The excess water should be removed.
Don't wring the slipper.This can make them look different.Press down on them to remove the excess water.If you want to absorb the excess water, you can squeeze them in a towel.
Step 7: Let them dry.
To dry the slippers, set them aside.You can use a blowdryer to dry them out.The soft, cottony insides of the slippers will be fluffed by a blowdryer.
Step 8: Place a towel over the wipe.
By submerging them, you cannot machine wash or hand wash them.To clean up a spill, use a clean towel.You can use a damp towel to wipe the spill if the suede is waterproof.Stick with a dry towel.
Step 9: Use a cleaning kit.
If the spill can stain the suede, you should use a cleaning kit on the exterior.A stain eraser and a small, stiff brush are included in a suede cleaning kit.Mud or scuff marks can be removed with a brush, nail file, or soft-textured sandpaper.The nap texture will be returned.If you want to make it easier to clean the slippers in the future, apply a spray to the exterior.
Step 10: There is a baby wipe on the interior.
You don't have to wet the slippers with baby wipes.This works for both cotton and fleece.Baby wipes have a mild detergent.You can use a few of them to clean the inside of the slippers.If you want to scrub the soft insides of the slippers, you can use just a drop or two of wool detergent or another mild soap on the washcloth.
Step 11: To get rid of the detergent, use a damp cloth.
To clean out the insides, use a damp cloth.Don't remove leftover detergent.If you use a couple drops of wool detergent or baby wash, baby wipes will not be necessary.
Step 12: Allow them to dry off.
You don't want to apply heat to the slipper, so you have to give them plenty of time to dry.You can stuff the insides with balled up newspaper to help dry them out more quickly by absorbing water without using heat.
Step 13: It's a good idea to use a leather-safe soap.
The exteriors should only be treated with products designed for leather shoes.Non-enzyme liquid soaps are designed for leather products.You can use the same leather shoe cleaner you would use on other leather shoes.The same process can be used to clean the inside of the slipper.
Step 14: They can be washed with a soft cotton cloth.
Allow them to sit for five minutes after cleaning them.Then shine the slipper with a soft cotton cloth.
Step 15: There is a leather shoe conditioner.
After cleaning, apply a leather shoe conditioner.Natural conditioners will be easier to absorb than synthetic ones.The conditioner should be applied to help them age better.
Step 16: Baby wipes can be used to clean the inside of the slipper.
The same process can be used for fleece-lined slippers.Baby wipes have a mild detergent and are low in humidity.Use a couple of baby wipes to scrub out the inside of each slipper until the wipe is no longer stained from the dirt.One or two drops of wool detergent or baby wash can be used to scrub out the insides of the slippers.The method requires a second towel to remove soap.
Step 17: The slipper should be allowed to air dry.
You don't want to heat them.Give them time to dry.The newspaper inside the slipper can be used to draw the excess water out of the lining, which will speed up the drying process.
