The current head men's basketball coach at the University of Arkansas is Eric Patrick Musselman, who was born in 1964.He was the head coach of the Golden State Warriors in the NBA.During his time as an assistant to Mike Fratello, Musselman served as head coach of the Golden State Warriors.He was an assistant at Arizona State when he moved to the college coaching ranks.He was the head coach at Nevada.Bill Musselman's son, Eric, is an assistant coach with the Atlanta Hawks under Lon Kruger.

Before moving to suburban Cleveland, Ohio, where he attended a high school, he lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and San Diego, California.He was a member of the same high school basketball team as former NBA player Scott Roth and former NFL kicker Tom Tupa.

He was a basketball player at the University of San Diego and later worked as an NBA assistant.The University of San Diego compiled a 77-36 record while Musselman was there.The 1986–87 team had a 24–6 record, the best in school history.The first round of the NCAA Tournament was won by Auburn University.Scott Thompson, a 7-foot center who was drafted in the fourth round by the Washington Bullets in 1987, was a teammate of Musselman's at the University of South Dakota.

The second highest winning percentage in league history was achieved by George Karl, who coached for five seasons in the CBA.

Bill Musselman had coached to three consecutive CBA titles during the 1980s, and his son was the general manager of the Rapid City Thrillers at the time.He hired Flip Saunders as the team's head coach in his first week on the job.When Bill was the head coach at the University of Minnesota in the early 1970s, he recruited the man who would go on to become one of the winningest coaches in NBA history, the Minnesota Timberwolves' Flip Saunders.[2]

At the age of 24, Musselman became the head coach of the Thrillers.He became the youngest front bench assistant coach in NBA history when he joined his father Bill's staff on the Minnesota Timberwolves.Prior to joining the Thrillers, Musselman worked for the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers as an assistant to the general manager and director of scouting.

The number of players called up to the NBA from 1990 to 1997 was the highest in the league.He was the first coach in professional basketball history to win 100 games by the age of 28 and he coached in five league All-Star Games.He was the youngest coach in the history of the CBA.

The Florida Sharks were head coach of the United States Basketball League.In the summers of 1995 and 1996, he coached the Sharks to a combined 53–3 record.He has the highest winning percentage in league history.

He was an assistant coach for the Magic from 1998 to 2000 and the Hawks from 2000 to 2002 and was named NBA Coach of the Year in the 1999-00 season.[3]

He was the head coach of the Golden State Warriors for two years.He finished second in the NBA Coach of the Year Award voting in 2002– 2003 with 231 points, including 26 first-place votes.The Warriors had a record of 30–30 on March 4, 2003 and reached the.500 mark late in the season for the first time in nearly a decade.The most wins in more than a decade were achieved by the club in Musselman's first season.

Despite numerous injuries and the loss of their top two players, the team still finished in the top half of the league.In his two seasons as Golden State's head coach, he compiled a 75–89 record.Chris Mullin took over as the team's general manager after the 2004 season.

Steve Kerr's.709 winning percentage with Golden State is the 10th all-time among Warriors coaches.

After two seasons as head coach of the Golden State Warriors, Eric Musselman was an assistant coach for the Memphis Grizzlies under Mike Fratello.[3]

On August 11, 2010, Musselman was named head coach of the NBA Development League's Reno Bighorns.The Bighorns finished first in the D-League Western Conference and several of their players were called up to the NBA.It was 7 and 8.

The Los Angeles D-Fenders named Musselman their head coach.One of the best teachers in the D-League is Musselman.He led the team to a 38-12 record, the best mark in league history.The D-Fenders, who finished with the best defensive FG percentage in the league, lost to the Austin Toros in a three-game series.The D-League Coach of the Year was named in April.The NBA D-League's goals of developing NBA basketball talent via call-ups and assignments was one of the reasons why the team that best embodies that goal was named the NBA Development Champion.[11]

In the 2012–13 season, Musselman was an assistant coach at Arizona State before being promoted to associate head coach.In two seasons with the Sun Devil, Musselman helped them to the NIT Tournament and the NCAA Tournament.The team went 21-12 in both seasons.

Johnny Jones was the associate head coach at LSU at the time.LSU reached the NCAA Tournament but lost to North Carolina State in the first round.[13]

On March 25, 2015, the University of Nevada, Reno hired Musselman as head coach for the Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball team.It was [13].

In March of 2016 Bleacher Report named Musselman the Mountain West Coach of the Year after guiding the Wolf Pack to an 18-12 record, a 9-win improvement over the previous season.The team's winning percentage jumped from 31 to 60, which was the 11th best improvement in the country.[15]

Nevada won its first three games in the College Basketball Invitation to improve its season record to 21-12 and advance to the championship series against Morehead State.According to Chris Murray, a reporter who covered the team for the Reno Gazette Journal, "No coach in Nevada basketball history has done a better job of getting everything out of the talent on the roster."It might be the best job in Wolf Pack basketball history.[17]

The Wolf Pack won the Mountain West regular season title.The team earned a bid to the NCAA men's basketball tournament by winning the Mountain West tournament.The Wolf Pack finished the season with a 28-7 record and tied for the second-most wins in school history.

The Wolf Pack was ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation for the first time in a decade.After guiding the Wolf Pack to a 15-3 conference record and the regular season title, Musselman was named Mountain West Coach of the Year.The National Association of Basketball Coaches named him the District 17 Coach of the Year.The team set a school record.[21]

Nevada was selected as a seventh seed for the NCAA men's basketball tournament.The Wolf Pack came back from 14 points down to defeat Texas in the first round.Nevada rallied from a 22-point deficit to upset second-seeded Cincinnati in the second round of the NCAA tournament.[23]

Nevada went 12-3 in true road games during the season.The 12 victories were a school record and tied for most in the country.

In May of last year, Musselman and staff signed Jordan Brown, a 31st ranked recruit.The highest-ranked recruit to commit to Nevada since 2008 was Brown.

The Nevada athletics department announced today that season tickets for the upcoming men's basketball season were sold out.[25]

Nevada was ranked ninth in the USA Today Coaches Poll to start the season.It's the highest ranking in school history for the Wolf Pack.On February 26, 2007, the previous top ranking was #9.The highest preseason ranking in Mountain West Conference history was 7.The Wolf Pack had the highest ranking in school history in week 4 of the college basketball season as they finished the year ranked in the AP Top 25.

Nevada opened the season with a victory over BYU.The game was decided by 25 points, with 21 coming in the second half.The only starting lineup in college basketball was made up of fifth-year seniors.

The wolf pack avenged their Sweet 16 loss to Loyola-Chicago by defeating them in Chicago.The Pack is now ranked No.The two Martins led 5 in the country with 20 points.

Nevada defeated Arizona State 72-66 in Los Angeles, California, in the 2nd half.In front of the 12th largest crowd in Lawlor Events Center History, the Wolf Pack honored its Seniors beating San Diego State 81-53 and earning its third straight Mountain West Conference Regular Season title.

The Pack won three straight Mountain West Conference titles.[26]

The Lawlor Events Center had an all-time attendance record.In 3 less games, the season total of 163,169 broke the previous record of 150,674.The home game attendance of 10,878 broke the previous year's record of 9,048.[28]

Mark Few, Dave Rose, Steve Fisher, and Steve Alford are recent mid-major coaches with four-year spans of at least 25 wins per season.

After finishing the year with an overall record of 29-5, Musselman received one vote for AP Coach of the Year.

The school's best start to a season since the 1997-98 season was achieved by his team.The Razorbacks went 11-1 in non-conference play.They went into SEC play with a road win at Indiana University.The SEC vs Big 12 Challenge was won by Arkansas.Arkansas went 3-3 in SEC play with wins over Vandy and Texas A&M at home, and Ole Miss on the road.LSU and Mississippi State lost on the road, while Kentucky lost at home.When Arkansas lost their 2nd leading scorer for a five game stretch, they went 0-5.The Razorbacks finished the season with a 4-2 record.The fifth and sixth-ranked recruiting classes in the nation were recruited by Musselman in his first year at Arkansas.

The 2020 SEC Tournament victory was the reason for the season being cut short.The Razorbacks finished their season with a 20-12 record, their fifth straight year with 20 or more wins.With a 20-12 record in his first year at Arkansas, Musselman currently holds the ninth highest winning percentage of active NCAA Division I basketball coaches.

The staff and Musselman were able to get in the No.Three top 25 ranked graduate transfers signed with the Razorbacks.

The Razorbacks cracked the Top 25 for the first time in over a year in the late season of the 2020-21 season.6 team in the country.Bud Walton Arena has been without ranked teams since February 1998.The Razorbacks entered the top 10 of the AP poll for the first time in 20 years on March 8, 2021.Heading into the playoffs.He is one of 10 semifinalists for the men's coach of the year.The highest seed for Arkansas since 1995 was entered by Musselman in the NCAA Tournament.Arkansas defeated Texas Tech in a 2-point win to reach the Sweet 16 for the first time in 20 years.Arkansas advanced to its first Elite 8 since 1995 after eliminating 15-seed Oral Roberts.

Conference regular season champion and conference tournament champion were the national champion.

He wrote about the importance of matching an offense to the team's make up.A half-court offense might be better for the team.The team may be better suited for an open offense.The idea is to allow players to play to their strengths.[31]

As head coach of the Golden State Warriors, Musselman would often use three-guard rotation to create mismatches and fast-break opportunities.As head coach of the Venezuela National Team, Musselman said his team's identity was fast-paced, up-tempo.[33]

Jeff Van Gundy, a former NBA coach, said that Musselman is "as competitive of a guy as I've ever coached against."He's a brilliant thinker.[34]

According to University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari, Eric is one of the best in the sport.Very knowledgeable and driven.I've coached against him in the NBA.He is able to read where the game is at.His ability to motivate and teach his players what it takes to improve and win is more important.He is as good as can be.[35]

"As a coach, you have to continually figure out a way to get your players better," he said.Gerald Green, who played for Musselman with the Los Angeles D-Fenders, said that he was pushed every day in practice.I have to give him credit for improving my game.Green said that he had to stay focused.Don't take a second off of a play.Don't take any plays off.Don't take practice for granted.[38]

Jeremy Lin has credited Musselman with helping his development.Lin said that when he was in the D-League, he got the chance to play through mistakes.[39]

Musselman had the most energy of any coach I've ever been around, said Gregory Echenique, who played for the Venezuela National Team in 2011.He had a problem with his foot, and he had to use crutches to get around.When we left him, his intensity never changed.If he needed to be, he was in your face.He was positive at the same time.He believed we could win.He put the fire in us.[40]

Kevin Martin told NBA.com that Musselman helped him learn how to draw more fouls.According to Martin, Musselman saw how teams were playing me and told me to start absorbing that contact.He said I could score a lot more points if I got to the free throw line.He put a lot of importance on that part of the game.It paid off because he was pounding it into me.[41]

In a May 9, 2013, article by CBSSports.com college basketball writer Gary Parrish, the Arizona State guard credited Musselman with helping him develop as a player.A lot of great players have been coached by Coach Muss.He's given me a lot of great advice, about what NBA people are looking for, how NBA guys don't take days off, and how they're always in the gym doing conditioning or something.A guy like me?I have never been to an NBA game.He's someone who helped me.[42]

The 7-foot-2 senior at Arizona State was helped with his feet by Musselman.After the season, Bachynski was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year.[42]

In October 2007, it was reported that Musselman wanted to coach at the collegiate level.Musselman wants to coach in college and is starting the process of getting his name out among search committees so that he's a viable candidate in March.The University of San Francisco was rumored to be in need of a new head coach after this season.In January 2008, his name came up in press reports about the head coaching position at Oregon State.There were published reports about the California and Loyola Marymount head coaching positions.48

On August 30, 2012 Andy Katz reported that Arizona State University was in talks to hire Musselman as an assistant coach.It was confirmed on September 2, 2012 that Musselman's hiring was a "coup" for Sendek.50

Jeff Van Gundy, a former NBA coach, predicted that Musselman will be an excellent recruiter because of his competitive nature and what he has to sell.This guy can show kids how to play in the NBA.[51]

"It's hard to ignore the difference [guard Jahii] Carson and assistant coach Eric Musselman are making at Arizona State," wrote Andy Katz in his article.The Sun Devil's were painful to watch last season.Adding former NBA head coach Eric Musselman to his staff has been a huge plus for Sendek and his players.According to King's story, Arizona State center Jordan Bachynski said, "When Musselman and Greer speak, guys listen, just because they have that credibility from being in the league."The way they approach the game is not BS.They say, "This is how it's done."You're not going to play if you don't like it.'[52]

In a radio interview after the 2012–13 season, Arizona State athletic director Steve Patterson said, "I think Eric's going to have opportunities to look at head coaching jobs."He's a good coach.I think he did a great job.[54]

One of the best under-the-radar candidates out there is Musselman.[55]

He was promoted to associate head coach.In April of 2014, Musselman resigned from Sendek's staff.[57]

He was a candidate for the head coaching position at the University of California, Berkeley, South Florida and Oregon State University.60

The offer to coach Spartak St. Petersburg in Russia was turned down by Musselman.The Dominican Republic national basketball team had a new head coach in May of 2010.[62]

The Dominican Republic team lost to Puerto Rico in the gold medal game of the 2010 Men's Basketball Championship, but still managed to win the tournament.The Dominican Republic qualified for the Olympic Games by finishing second at the Centro Basketball Championship.[63]

The U.S. team won the gold medal at the Adidas Global Experience in Chicago.The top high school seniors in the US are on the team.Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States were home to the world's top 18-and-under players.At the adidas Nations camp in Beijing, China, Musselman was the head coach of Team China.

The Puerto Rico men's national basketball team was looking for a head coach in May 2011.He was mentioned as a candidate for the Venezuela national basketball team.On June 15, 2011, Musselman was named head coach of the Venezuela national basketball team.66

Venezuela qualified for the 2012 World Pre- Olympics by going 4-4 at the FIBA Americas pre- olympics in Argentina.Venezuela averaged 94.8 points per game, 9 points more than the second highest- scoring team.Prior to the tournament, Venezuela went 8-5 in exhibition games.[67]

Venezuela finished second at the 2012 FIBA Men's South American Championship with a 3-2 record.The second-place finish gave Venezuela a spot in the FIBA Americas Championship and a chance to play at the World Championship.The team advanced to the 2012 Summer Olympics after defeating the Nigeria national team in the qualification tournament.The 2012 Super 4 in Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela, was won by Venezuela.

From 2008 to 2010 he was an NBA analyst for FOX Sports Radio and Clear Channel Radio, as well as a color commentator for college basketball games on the regional sports network.He worked as a basketball analyst.
