The Zebra Danio needs care.

The zebra danio is a great breed of fish for first time owners. They are small and are attractive. They like interacting with other fish and breed quickly.

Step 1: Purchase a bigger tank.

Danios need space for themselves and their friends. The tank should have a power filter, bio-wheel, and aquarium heater. It is possible to keep danios without a heating source. If you plan to breed the danios, a heater is a good way to maintain optimal conditions. You might have to assemble the tank.Follow the instructions on the box.

Step 2: Purchase chemicals for the treatment of water.

Some chemicals, like chlorine, can be harmful to fish.Purchase some testing kits at the pet store to make sure the water is safe. You will probably want a solution to treat chlorine and chloramine.Ask the local pet store owner or the water utility for more information about the chemicals in your water supply.

Step 3: The gravel should be placed in the tank.

There is a layer of gravel at the bottom of the tank.A quarter of an inch of gravel can be kept in the tank.

Step 4: Water can be put into the tank.

It's good for your fish to have simple tap water. Not all the way to the top of the tank is filled.A layer of oxygen is needed at the top of the tank.

Step 5: Treat the water.

Adding salt and Amquel to the tank will help the pH levels. You can buy acids and bases at the pet store to adjust the pH in your tank. The level should be tested and adjusted until it is in the range of 6 to 8.

Step 6: There is a group of 6 or more.

Danios like to be in the company of other fish.A group of 6 or more is optimal.Danios get along with other types of fish.

Step 7: There are different types of Danios.

If you want to breed fish, you should get different types of females.Males have yellow stripes and females are generally larger.Danios breed quickly when left to their own devices. Many of their fry will be eaten.

Step 8: If you can, move the fish to their tank as soon as possible.

The bag that the pet store provides can only hold the Zebra Danio for 8 hours. The water they came in with should not be transferred to the tank when you transfer the fish.It will have a lot of it.

Step 9: Feed the pig.

Danios likes a lot of food sources.Commercial produce will usually suffice. They can also be fed blood worms, daphnia, and brine shrimp.

Step 10: Take care of tank temperature.

Danios are comfortable in temperatures from 65 to 75 degrees. If you don't have a heater, you can maintain this temperature without it.It is optimal to have a higher temperature for breeding.

Step 11: The tank must be cleaned weekly.

You don't need to remove all of the gravel when you clean the tank, but you should suck up the waste on the bottom.A scrapper can be used to remove the glass from the tank. The water should be removed and replaced after these tasks are completed. When changing the water, do not remove fish.If you use the new water for household tasks, make sure to put it in a bucket that is only used for this purpose.Test and treat the water.Slowly introduce the new water back into the tank.
