There are 6 ways to make your bed feel larger than it is.

If you're a tall adult and your child is growing fast, you may find a regular-sized twin bed too short for comfort. Most adults are happy with queen or California king mattresses. They want a lot of floor footprint in exchange for a little extra room. You can build an extension for your twin bed in the afternoon. You will be able to extend your twin bed to longer than a California King. You can always change the lumber dimensions to fit your needs.

Measure from the top of your mattress to the floor.Use the end of your tape to measure the depth of the carpet.

Cut your post into four segments. The length of each segment should be the same as the height of your bed.If you had a 6-inch thick pad and a 30-inch high bed, each segment would be 24 inches long.

Sand all the faces of your lumber. They don't have to be polished, but they should be free of splinters.

All of the beams lay on their narrowest face as they are arranged into a rectangle.Attach them together with wood screws that are driven through the face of the beam and into the end.

The rectangular frame has a plywood sheet on top of it.Attach it with one wood screw per corner. The screws should be driven deep enough that the head is flush with the plywood.

The corner is formed by two beams on the underside of your frame.Attach it by driving two screws through each beam and into the side of the post.
