There are motorcycles in CHiPs, what are they?

We used to sit in front of the television waiting for CHiPs to come on.The show was wildly popular, so it's no wonder that CHiPs is a big part of the internet. All of the motorcycle cops in the television series rode the same type of motorcycles as the real California Highway Patrol officers. The show's producers went to great lengths to keep the characters in line with the real ones.

Depending on the year it was put into service, the Kawasaki KZP is a modified version of the original. The modifications include: windshields, saddlebags, pursuit lights, folding floorboards, radio communications equipment, electronic sirens, and high performance tires.

Dax Shepard wrote and directed a buddy cop remake of the original series. The movie does bring some of the best motorcycle filming and stunt riding to the silver screen, despite the lackluster reviews.Dax Shepard does track days on his Suzuki GSX-R 1000 and Ducati Hypermotard 1100S at Buttonwillow Raceway in California.

The BMW R 1200RT-P is one of the bikes favored by the California Highway Patrol. The police version of the R 1200RT was introduced in 2005 by BMW Authority Vehicles and has a variety of equipment. The "RT-P" has a 1170cc,109-hp flat twin, and there are a lot of different options.

The main motorcycles in CHiPs are the Hypermotards.Dax Shepard is a huge fan of the machine. They are mentioned in the movie as being all-terrain motorcycles, which is a bit of a stretch, but the Hypermotard is no slouch. In a bike that weighs less than 400 lbs., the Desmo 90-degree air-cooled V-twin offers 113-hp.At the introduction of the bike, it won Best of Show, and the film shows some fun riding on these bikes. We don't want to ruin that part.

Scott Carty rode one of the bikes in the film. The bike was auctioned for charity.

At the end of the film, D'Onofrio's character chases down the stars on a large black H-D cruiser that spits blue flames from the tailpipes. There is some confusion around this bike as it sounds like an officer says it is a Warlock. We thought he was talking about the Feuling W3 Warlock, a three cylinder motor with modifications to the Dyna frame. The Warlock motorcycle in the film does not have a third cylinder.

Baker seems to be referring to the bad guy, not the bike. The "Warlock motorcycle" seems to be a modified Harley- Davidson Electra Glide, which is used by many police departments.According to Dax, Harley tricked out the bike to look like Slyvester's Mercury from Cobra.Dax talked about this in an interview with Jalopnik.

Dax: No!Nothing was changed. We had a skid plate on the Hypermotards because we kept driving them up and down staircases.Nothing was tricked out.Oh!D'Onofrio's Harley was tricked out by Harley, but that was just an aesthetic thing.I wanted it to shoot flames.

Dax said it looked real cool.I told Harley that I wanted his Mercury from Cobra to be in motorcycle form. They jumped over the wall and into the compound.

BMW says their bikes are used in more than 400 law enforcement agencies in the United States, and 150 countries worldwide. The Kawasaki 1400GTR is the most common police motorcycle at the moment. The base 1400 GTR is powered by a 1352cc inline four that offers 153hp and 100lb-ft of Torque at 6,200rpms, and can have a top speed in excess of 170 mph, depending on the modifications ordered by the police department. The police units are modified bikes that are ordered through dedicated builders.

The motor is blacked out on that part of the car.Why was it blacked out?Do you mean paint, tint or something else?I still watch the show in re-runs.The Vulcan Nomad 1600 is a great motor.Thank you for your time. It's a good idea to ride safe.Jimmy Lee.

There is a piece of black plastic between the chrome frame and the clear screen.I don't know why.I know the C-Series bikes inside and out.

The purpose of this little black plastic cover is to keep the sun from reflecting back into other motorists eyes off the chrome work of the bike.It would be great to share from one old biker to another.

The bike I liked the most was the Kawasaki 750cc 3 cylinder 2 stroke. It was the leader of the road.I beat all the cars and bikes that I dragged.

Do you know the name of the bike Dax Shepard drives when he leaves his house in the movie? Thanks.

The H-D Road Kings have long pipes, fishtail tips, ape hangers, whitewall tires, and tons of chrome. The bikes are obviously influenced bylowrider culture. We can all agree that these bikes are better than what most of us ride and are definitely worth every penny.
