There are many advantages to training a pet rat.It is easier to remove droppings and urine from the cage if your rat eliminates in the same spot.The part of the cage where your rat tends to eliminate is where the litter box should be.When you see a rat, praise it.When the rat is trained, keep a clean litter box.
Step 1: There is a litter box.
You want your rat to be able to climb in and out of the litter box.Pick a container that is low to the ground.It should be wide enough that your rat can fit inside.It's a good idea to buy a litter box that can attach to the cage.The box cannot be moved around by the rat.You can purchase one at a store.If you don't want to buy a box, you can use a small Tupperware container.

Step 5: Rats use the litter box.
