Use a broiler.

Many cooks don't know how to use the Broilers.Broilers can cook or toast food quickly. An oven rack should be placed close to the top of the oven.Next, turn on the stove. Before you put your food in the oven, preheat it for a few minutes.Make sure to use sturdy metal or cast iron pans when cooking.

Step 1: Find the shirring.

There is a drawer at the bottom of the oven that holds the broiling unit.If your oven doesn't have a Broiler drawer, the broiler is inside the main oven compartment. The broiling unit will be attached to the top of the oven.

Step 2: Put the oven rack in place.

The rack should be 3-4 inches away from the broiler in most recipes. The oven rack should be moved to one of the top two rack positions.Measure the distance from the rack to the top of the oven with a ruler. You won't be able to adjust the shelf height if your oven has a Broiler drawer.

Step 3: The Broiler needs to be turned on.

The broil setting is the last setting on the temperature dial.An electric oven can have a broil option on it's temperature dial.If you want to turn on the Broiler, simply press the button or dial. The highest setting is used if the recipe doesn't specify a temperature.

Step 4: Put the oven in the middle of the room.

The drawer or door of the oven should be closed. Before cooking any food, preheat the oven for at least five minutes.Longer preheating times are called for in some meat recipes.

Step 5: The right pans are used.

You should not put glass or Pyrex dishes under the fire. When exposed to high temperatures, these materials can crack or explode.Sturdy metal or cast iron pans are better.Broilers are usually used to preheat cast iron pans. The pans are great for cooking meat.Baking sheets can be lined with foil and used to cook.An extra tray underneath the pans circulates heat and catches fat.The trays can hold any kind of food.

Step 6: Place your food underneath the flame.

The method only applies to gas ovens. If you look inside the oven, you'll see the flames. If you place food in the oven, make sure to center it under the flames.Electric ovens use heated coils to cook food. The top of the oven is where the coils are distributed.

Step 7: The door should not be opened.

Leaving the oven door slightly open will allow air and heat to circulate evenly. Not all oven units will have an open door.Check your oven's manual to find out.If you have small children in your home, keep the oven door and drawer closed.

Step 8: Make sure you keep an eye on your food.

Broilers use high temperatures to cook food. Most recipes only ask you to cook for a short time. The food could catch on fire if you leave it in too long. This is true for toast. If your food catches on fire, turn off the oven. The drawer or oven door should not be open.Close the door if it's open. The oxygen supply to the fire will be cut off.The fire should burn itself out on its own.If there is smoke, open a window. You should keep an eye on the oven.If the fire gets bigger or the flames start coming out of your oven, you should call your local emergency hotline.

Step 9: It's a good idea to bake a steak.

Place the skillet in the oven. The skillet should be put in the oven for 15-20 minutes.Place the steak in the skillet. The steak should be broiled for three to five minutes.Allow the steak to rest for at least five minutes after it's been cooked.Sprinkle a layer of salt and pepper on the steak after brushing it with olive oil. Before cooking the steak, place it at room temperature on your counter.

Step 10: The garlic bread was toasty.

Cut a loaf of French bread into large pieces.Spread butter on each slice.Broil the bread for 5 minutes on the baking sheet. To make sure the bread doesn't burn, keep a close eye on it.If you want to make a butter with seasonings, you can combine 5 grams of softened butter, 2 ounces of extra virgin olive oil, 3 cloves of crushed garlic, and a dash of dried oregano salt and pepper.

Step 11: Cut veggies.

The method of cooking gives vegetables a smoky, charred flavor.Put thinly chopped vegetables in olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.Next, place them on a baking sheet and bake them for 20 to 25 minutes. The method works for many vegetables.

Step 12: The casseroles need to be finished in the broiler.

The top of your casseroles should have a golden baked finish.Cook your favorite casserole in the oven.Place it under the broiler once it is almost done cooking.Remove the casserole from the oven before it cools. The casserole should be cool for five to ten minutes.
