What are some great local not franchises or chains restaurants in Montreal

I have patronized La Colombe (La Colombe, Montreal – Plateau Mont-Royal – Updated 2019 Restaurant Reviews, Photos & Reservations – TripAdvisor) for at least 15 years. It is owned by the chef, Mostafa Rougaibi, and it is a BYOB (bring your own wine) resto.Excellent continental cuisine, reasonable prices and great service.

In the Verdun area, there are a few local restaurants I frequent.Palais d’Ajit – Mouthwatering Indian Food4801 Rue de Verdun, Verdun, QC H4G 1N2 Comon 꼬몽 – Delicious low-key Korean Food3969 Boulevard LaSalle, Verdun, QC H4G 2A1 Café Bénédictins – Classic large portion breakfasts 5511 Rue de Verdun, Verdun, QC H4H 1K9 To find good local restaurants near you, I think it’s best to just go out and try as many as you can.For the 3 restaurants I mentioned, it really surprised me at how delicious the food was because I always trusted chains more than local restaurants, but man did this ever change.

I like Yia Sou Greek Grill on Queen Mary, and Grillades Da Silva for the best Portuguese chicken in Montreal.Star of India on Sherbrooke and Pushap on Paré for incredible and cheap vegetarian Indian. They also make unbelievable samosas, a dozen for only $5.00.
