What are some job placements at UBC McGill the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto

I would be very wary of this one.I spent a miserable year as a post-doc at UBC.I thought I had a job for a few years.

I bought an apartment in Vancouver for cash before I discovered that I did not like the people I was working for very much.At the end of about 9 months they told me they were abandoning the project and had no money.I had to sell my apartment at a loss and the Canadian Government taxed me anyway as a foreign investor in Canadian property.

Overall I lost about 1/4 of what I owned at the time. Before that at Cornell I told a girl in Micro that I had been offered a post-doc in Vancouver. She twigged her nose at me and said “You have to be very careful about Canadian Universities.

They have a habit of offering people jobs then turning around 6 months later and saying that they have no money.” She was out by a few months.Never had a chance to thank her for trying to warn me.Take home message.

Make sure you get things in writing and find out where the money is coming from. Most likely they will give you a one-year contract. If they do make sure there is funding for future years.

There may not be.

Job placements as in after you graduate?Did you mean possible sources of money to ease your financial burden while you are a student? For first part, all the universities you have mentioned have really good rankings and most of the programs are very well reputed.Securing a job post graduation depends a lot on your skills, all I know is a lot of companies have on campus fairs at the above mentioned universities. For second part, there are jobs such as on part time off campus, research assistant, teaching assistant, etc.
