Esther Short Park is a beautiful green spot right in the center of Vancouver. On Saturdays and Sundays, most of the year, they have a farmers’ market, and during the summer there are lots of evening concerts and events. That being said, like any place these days (not just in the U.S but other non-dictatorial places as well) it tends to be frequented by vagrants and homeless people.
From what I understand, there are quite a few around the park, but not much in the way of violence.I know people who live close by, and they feel safer than if they lived in a larger area (like Portland, Oregon, just about 10 minutes away) The larger the city, the more problems there usually are.But Vancouver is not that large and it still has a pretty safe downtown area.
I lived alone right downtown in a ghetto apartment building by the freeway, the worst area as far as safety I’m assuming and never did I experience any issues.Honestly Vancouver was ridiculously quiet and uneventful.Going out at 7pm on a Friday and downtown would have 1 person walking down the street.
I think you’re safe anywhere in Vancouver.
That park is in Vancouver, Washington, USA.
