What does Z71 mean when appended to the names of trucks?

The Z71 was 1/2 ton with all the accessory options, it had heavy duty shocks, aluminum skid plates, 40mm anti sway bar, heavy torsion duty bars, and delco rear leef springs. The information came from the GM RPO Z71 data sheet.

With the exception of skid plates and nifty stickers on the bed, older trucks like the c/k series are nothing but a couple hundred in resale value. There are still nifty stickers on the side of the newer ones. They also sit higher.

It's really not worth the added expense. If you aren't a dedicated offroadist, a normal 4 wheel drive is adequate.Changing the suspension tires is not worth the extra money.

Z71 is an off road package which consists of 4X4, tougher shocks and suspension and usually a slight body lift. Some chevys have the Z71 package.

Chevrolet trucks and SUVs have an off road suspension package.I don't believe it stands for anything.

A 4x4 truck with model specific Z71 decals on the bed, grill, and skid plate is BS.4x4 truck stuff is standard.

It has different tires, wheels, skid plates, and interior shocks to make it special.
