What are army caps called?
In the U.S. Armed Forces it is known as a garrison cap, campaign cap (not to be confused with campaign hat, a distinct form of headgear), flight cap, garrison hat, fore-and-aft cap, envelope cap, or overseas cap.
What does the SS skull mean?

Uniform design and function There was a traditional reason, as well: just as the Prussian kings' and emperors' life-guard cavalry (Leibhusaren) had worn black uniforms with skull-and-crossbones badges, so would the Führer's bodyguard unit. These SS uniforms were tailored to project authority and foster fear.
What were German uniforms called?
The majority of SS personnel wore a variation of the Waffen-SS uniform or the grey-green SS service tunic. Branches with personnel that normally would wear civilian attire in the Reich (such as the Gestapo and Kripo) were issued grey-green SS uniforms in occupied territory to avoid being mistaken for civilians.
What is the red ribbon on German uniforms?
In most cases, it is the ribbon of the Iron Cross 2nd Class, which most German soldiers who served in front line combat received during the war. In all other cases it is the ribbon of the East Front Medal which was awarded to soldiers who served on the Eastern Front during the winter of 1941 to 1942.
