The first book in the Castle Series, Howl's Moving Castle, is the story of the female lead.
The eldest of three sisters is a young woman who lives in a small town in the kingdom of Ingary.In the land of Ingary, this means thatSophie is destined to live a dull life at home.She works in her stepmother's hat shop.
She has red-gold hair and blue-green eyes.She doesn't see herself as pretty, but she is considered to be pretty.As her confidence grows, she wears grey more and more.
In the movie, she is depicted as a young girl with brown eyes and long brown hair wearing a plait that is tied with pink ribbons.She is usually seen wearing a sun hat with a red ribbon and a pink brochette, as well as a pastel green dress that has a white collar and buttons on the chest, all of which contribute to her plain appearance.
After being cursed, she keeps her hat and continues to wear her hair in the same way.Her dress is now blue in color.She gains a lot of weight and gets a wrinkled appearance as she ages.

The scheme was all a ruse to get Sophie to the Waste.Howl returned to the Waste to save her after the witch of the waste captured her.Howl overcame his reluctance to fight the Witch of the Waste because of his love for her.The Witch of the Waste's own fire demon, Miss Angorian, tried to steal the heart of Howl as he was too old and weak.Howl's heart was returned to him bySophie after she broke the contract between Calcifer and him.Miss Angorian was defeated, her curse was broken, and both wizards were freed.
After the preceding events, Howl andSophie admit their feelings for one another and agree to live together.

The witch of the waste broke into the hat shop after hours.The Witch was unaware that the shop was closed for the day.The witch said that the hat shop wastacky, to which Sophie asked her to leave.The Witch curses her to become old because she was jealous of Howl.
After being cursed by the Witch of the Waste,Sophie leaves behind her life in search of a cure.The creature she calls Turnip-Head is actually helpful to her, unlike in the book.Turnip-Head gave her a walking stick and led her to Howl's Castle.
With the help of Turnip-Head, a fire demon named Calcifer was defeated in the castle.They agree to break each other's curses.When Markl knocked on the door, she fell asleep and was woken by him.Michael Fisher is much older than Markl, who is a very young boy.They all eat breakfast and once again meet Howl.While trying to tell Howl about her curse, she realized she wasn't able to speak about it and decided to say she was their new cleaning lady.
She cleans every room in the castle, minus Howl's.The Witch of the Waste's henchman was seen by her while she and Markl were shopping.No one notices him.Howl burst out of his bathroom with a bright shade of orange, as she and Markl went back to the castle.She reorganized his magic salts.His hair changes colors and settles on black, Howl begins to ooze green slime out of depression and releases dark energy, which has happened once before, when a girl dumped him.They clean him up.
Howl toldSophie that he had been summoned to the Royal Palace so he could defend the country in a war.He tells her that he's a liar and all he does is hide.Madame Suliman thinks he's too timid to show his face, so he tells him to go to the Palace as his mother.On her way to the castle, she meets up with the Witch of the Waste after Howl gave her a ring.
The Witch is getting older as they climb the steps to the palace.When they get to the room where Madame Sulliman is, they are led by a dog into it.Howl has been taken over by a demon, and soon it will consume him.The Witch of the Waste loses her powers when Howl arrives to save her.Madame Suliman shows how Howl really is before they can leave.He transforms into a fierce bird, but before he loses himself, he goes to the palace with the Witch of the Waste and Heen.Howl stole a plane that was used to flee the Royal City.Howl is behind a decoy so he can get away.She dreams that Howl is consumed by his demon after she crashes into the castle.He roars that it's too late when she loves him in her dream.Howl moves the castle again the next morning.A new portal leads to a field of flowers as the castle transforms into a hat shop.She asked Howl if he was leaving her.She replied, "I know I can be of help to you." He didn't reply.I'm good at cleaning, even though I am not pretty.Howl said, "Sophie, you're beautiful!"At that time, an enemy ship approaches the field.Howl destroys the engine.Her mother visits her as she turns the Hat Shop into a flower shop.The Witch throws a spy blob in Calcifer's mouth.He is unable to defend the castle when war breaks out.As Howl saves the shop from a falling bomb, she runs outside and watches as she breaks her own curse.The two embraced after he emerged unscathed from the crash.Howl heals Calcifer, and she asks him not to go out into the war again.He apologized and said he had had enough of running away.I have something to protect.It's you.The connection the castle had to Market Chipping was broken when he left.He was put back in the ruined grate by the castle.Even though her curse has been lifted, her hair is still silver, unlike the book where it turns red.She gives Calcifer her hair and he grows strong enough to move the castle to find Howl and tell him that they are safe.The Witch of the Waste realized that Calcifer holds Howl's heart.A bucket of water is thrown on her.The castle fell apart when Calcifer went out.They fell over a cliff.Howl gave her a blue ring that leads to the portal from the castle.She enters the black void that only Howl has been in.She witnessed Howl as a child.She runs after him to stop him from making a pact with Calcifer.Howl swallows the star and Calcifer is born, with his small heart beating within.She told him to find her in the future.Howl is waiting for her when she is thrust back through the door.He brought her to the remains of the castle.
