What is State Farm Beacon?
The Bluetooth beacon is a small device which allows for the collection of your driving data while in your car. It stays in your car and allows your phone and the Drive Safe & Save app to record trips in your car automatically no logging into the app.
How do I install State Farm beacon?
- Make sure you have the Drive Safe & Save app downloaded (text SAVE to 78836 for a link to download).
- Log in to the app using your driver's license information or your statefarm.com® user ID and password.
- A Bluetooth beacon will arrive in the mail a few days after enrolling.
What does the State Farm Beacon track?
According to this policy, drivers are given a bluetooth beacon to monitor their driving. After the first six months of signing up for this program, drivers receive a report card with grades for different driving habits such as turning, time of day, and hard brakes.
Can Drive Safe and Save hurt you?
Overall, it doesn't hurt — and might very well help. You can also check with your insurance company to see if they have a telematics program, like Drive Safe & Save™ from State Farm. These usage based car insurance programs record the miles you drive and use that information to help determine your premium.

Does Drive Safe and Save track phone usage?
Acceleration — The Drive Safe & Save app will dock you for accelerating too fast, so you'll have to pay attention how fast you speed up after the car is stopped. Using your phone — The app tracks your phone use whenever the car is moving, so looking at your phone while driving will affect your safety score.
How much is Drive Safe and Save discount?
Drive Safe & Save can reduce up to a third of your premium, but you'll have to drive very, very cautiously to obtain that much discount. Unless you're a very safe or occasional driver, the more likely scenario is you'll save somewhere around 10% to 15% — and even then you'll need to drive carefully.
How do I opt out of Drive Safe and Save?
Once you cancel your service, you do not need to send back the Bluetooth beacon. State Farm recommends that you drop the beacon off at an electronics recycling facility. You can then uninstall the Drive Safe & Save mobile app, which will then stop collecting your driving data.
