The international historically Black Greek-lettered Fraternity, "Kappa Alpha Psi", has over 400 undergraduate chapters in the continental United States, plus alumni and international chapters.The Fraternity has over 150,000 members and is divided into twelve provinces with each chapter under a province.

After its founding at Indiana University in 1911, the Fraternity expanded to charter at other universities, including the University of Iowa in 1914, and the second oldest HBCU, Ohio State University, in 1915.The first chapter in the South was at Meharry Medical College.By 1921, the Fraternity had 17 active chapters.The installation of the Omicron chapter at Columbia University was the first at an Ivy League university.
