The graphic symbol is the copyright symbol that is used to give notice of copyright in a sound recording.It was first introduced in the Rome Convention for the Protection of Performers.The United States added it to its law as part of its adherence to the convention.It is currently being used in 17 U.S.C.The Copyright Act of 1976 codifies it.
Most English-speaking countries refer to works known in U.S. copyright law as "sound recordings" with the letter P.[5]
A sound recording has a separate copyright that is different from the underlying work.The sound recording copyright notice does not apply to any other versions or renditions of the sound, even if they are performed by the same artist.[5]
The symbol first appeared in the Rome Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers of Phonograms and Broadcasting Organisation in 1961.There is an article in the Rome Convention.
If, as a condition of protecting the rights of producers, performers and both, in relation to phonograms, a Contracting State requires compliance with formalities, these will be considered as fulfilled.
The provision of a similar one in the Geneva Phonograms Convention was included when it was signed in 1971.
