As a single person I make far less than $85,000 annually.I have a nice little single family home with a huge yard in an older neighbourhood in Calgary.I did get rid of my vehicle a few years ago as I take transit to work in the downtown core and I can walk to everything I need in my neighbourhood.
I am more than comfortable, able to do some travelling and have all the electronic toys and hobby supplies I need to keep myself busy.I don’t eat out often.
Food is better and cheaper in Vancouver but everything else is more expensive. But the weather is better.Your money will go further.
And there is no PST.In Toronto, the food is better and more expensive.Real estate or renting is expensive like Vancouver.
Job market is better.
you could not survive well on 85000 in Vancouver, tough in Toronto too, but Calgary would be be ok, just hard to find 85000 job in Alberta.
