Is everything on freecycle free?
Everything is always free with no strings attached. Freecycling works through local, volunteer run communities and not every city or town has an active community yet. The most active communities have members like you who help grow their community by telling their friends and family. & much more!
Is freecycle a Yahoo group?
The organization began as a collection of Yahoo! Groups linked from freecycle.org. org's new-group system, which provides Freecycle-specific tools for local volunteer moderators and gives TFN oversight of individual groups. As of 2015, all local groups are listed on freecycle.org.

It's simple. Post a message offering an item. Other people see it and reply to you. Choose who to give it to and they collect.

How does Freecycle work UK?
Freecycle is, in essence, a giant internet-based swap shop, made up of thousands of localised groups allowing users to give away stuff they don't want any more, and receive stuff they do want. The rules are simple: whatever you give away must be free, and you can't keep taking without giving.

Freecycle is run by volunteers and day-to-day decision making is made by grassroots local groups, encouraging local members to use their group sensibly and safely. Each group is run by local Moderators who check messages and help members. These are volunteers who give up time to help run groups - they're not paid.

We are a grassroots & entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving and getting stuff for free in their own Towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Membership is free.
