Where to buy recycled-content paint January 24, 2020 is a great place to find cheap paint.

I am home from a fun day of shopping and I want to share a great tip with you.I found the cheapest place to buy paint.

I went to Home Depot today to purchase a gallon of paint to transform my next project, a cute little lingerie bureau.

I looked at a bunch of pre-mixed paints that were selling for $9 a gallon. The regular price of Behr Paint & Primer is $47/gallon.They were selling paint at a discount. It's cheaper than Thrift Store Paint. If this is the first time you have heard of it, there really is something.

The white is very similar to the Antique White that I used on my last few projects. It is close to being as warm. Can you see the difference?

I ran to the check-out counter after grabbing the can.I did not run because I am not a runner. This was a purchase I would make again and again.

I forgot to ask the Paint-Associate to shake the can for me because I was so happy with my find.I will be sure to give it a thorough shake while doing my happy dance.

There are mis-tints and oops-pre-mixed-paints at any local paint or hardware store. These paints are mixed for a customer, but they don't buy them. The store can't re-shelf this paint because it's pre-mixed, so they mark it down to get rid of it.

Next time you shop at any of the paint stores, watch for the amazing deals.

LOOP was discovered by me recently.LOOP takes quality paints and makes them into recycled paints.

What a great idea!LOOP is available in most Canadian Walmart stores. The colors are limited, only 8 designer colors in total, but for $13.88/gallon I am looking forward to giving it a try.It is a great way to keep re-finishing costs down.

I don't know what kind of coverage or quality recycled paints have, but I will definitely share my experience and write a review once I give it a try.

While we discuss the topic of recycling and inexpensive paints, Boomerang-Recycled-Paints are sold at thrift stores for $19.99/gallon.

I have learned that the cheapest place to buy paint is usually at Lowes, Home Depot, Rona, Canadian Tire or any other large store which mixes brand name paints.Pre-mixed paints need to be thoroughly mixed.Don't get too excited over your deal and forget to ask the paint guy, oops...I mean Paint Associate to shake your can!

If you know of any cheap paint resources in your area, leave a comment and let me know.

Pre-mixed paints, recycled paint, thrift store paint and cheap paint are some of the things that can be found.

I do a lot of subsidized housing work and one of the best ways to find quality paint is to go to the Sherwin-Williams.I asked for Miss tinted paints.I bought $6,500 worth of paint for $120 the last time I did it.Professional painters don't want to bye Miss tinted items because their customers are looking for a particular color. If the housing in Detroit doesn't peel off, the investors will care less.I get a higher quality paint at a lower price.

I discovered these paints a long time ago.Customer returns and colors that customers did not like are included in the paints. Some gallons will be priced as low as 5 bucks at my local home depot. The better paint and primer in one is what the Premium Plus ultra is.I always check the paints before I pay 45 bucks for a gallon of paint, it's like a gold mine to me.They sell 5 gallon paint rejects.Like the outdoors.I painted my house for less than 50 bucks. If you weren't aware of the returns and rejected paint section at the home depot. You have been missing a lot.

I'm looking for an exterior gray and exterior white trim. It's worth a try!

The goal is to restore the Habitat for humanity. If you call ahead, you will get a discount and 1/2 off days. It's worth it!

Is it possible to get the mixed whites that people don't buy mixed to another color if you have the white? Thanks for your feedback.

They sell the very best paint.Cheap paint takes two or more coats and it may peel on you. That is when the big bucks start. Why?You have to chisel the loose peeling off flakes before you can paint. This can take a week or more of labor. After you paint over it, it will peel underneath your new paint, ruining the job.You have to sand it and re-paint it.What is the solution?Don't buy cheap paint.Hope this helps you.

It sounded like a professional painter.Thank you for this Al!I like to find good brand name paints in the OOPS section.

They are not talking about cheap paint. They are talking about a cheaper price for high-quality.My mother says beer money tastes like champagne.

I found your site very informative and first timer.I am interested in starting a business in the sale of paint in my home country, and looking for the best deals I can find.Any help? Thanks in advance.

I like getting mistints. It is the only paint I buy.I usually get mine at Lowe's and they happily add it to change the colors for me and don't charge any more for it.

I am east bound but I will travel west to find the oops paint.

Ooops paints Ramona are usually found in designated paint stores or places that sell paint. They are always helpful if you ask them.

The Transfer Station is where I can pick up paint for free.

When I have to paint, I use this a lot.Benjamin Moore paints are by far the best quality but are very expensive, except for their mustiness which is $10, even for a can of AQUA.On one occasion, while painting my whole basement in an off-white /light beige colour, I bought 5 cans of Aqua and put them all in a 5 gallon pail and had enough of what was now the same coloured paint.I was proud to think of that. For $50, you can get nearly $400 of paint.

Hi, do you know who I am?Thanks for sharing.I'm curious about loop paint. It has been more than two years since you tried it.Did you attempt to paint the walls with it?How does it look now if you did?Does it have a problem?I wonder if it stays good for a while.

Jon, I have not used loop to paint walls. My sister has not.She painted her laundry room. The paint has held up well over a year.

I painted over a bumpy stucco wall in the bathroom and it caused the paint to peel off.It is holding up well in the other areas. It looks nice.

It is possible to add cement sealer to your paint. It is very sticky and binding to the wall and is used as an over coat.

I have found that using Thompson's water sealer in clear mixed at a ratio of 1:5 with paint is a great way to extend wear outdoors.Adding a small amount of bleach per gallon helps prevent mold.mixed 1

Did you ever use exterior paint on your projects?I found a quart of Glidden barn red exterior latex paint for $2.00 in the oops paint at my local Home Depot and I couldn't pass it up.I thought it would be a good idea to experiment with chalk paint and have a piece in mind to do the test with.I know that interior and exterior paints have different properties and was wondering if it would make a difference when painting furniture that is meant for interior use.

I have never tried exterior paints on my projects, but that is not to say I won't!If it is durable enough for the elements outdoors, I would think it would provide extra longevity on furniture.I am going to look into it.

Thanks for the reply.I was thinking the same as you.It should be able to stick to furniture if it can hold up to the elements. It is more flexible but not as scrubbable as the interior so it might be a good candidate for poly coating.I went to Home Depot again today to get a bunch of interior samples for 50 cents a piece, after seeing what they had messed up over the weekend. One of the quarts they had sitting out was a nice light gray.I might have to stop in tomorrow to see if it's still available.Let me know how it goes if you try exterior paint.I was curious to know if it would work the same in your paint gun and your opinion on it's other finishing qualities.

I will let you know if I beat you.I would love to hear how it works for you if you try it before I do.50 cents samples... score!

Kids' furniture and interior trim can be painted with exterior paint because it doesn't oxidize like interior latex. It will not need a lot of poly coating. If applied in a basement or porch, it repels water and resists mold. The paint hold up well for non professional use.I mix my own colors and always buy recycled paint at the Restore, because I haven't bought a new gallon of paint in years.

I'm Hi.I love your hints about chalk paint. Is it possible for semi gloss to be only flat?

I used a semi-gloss for the paint and it worked well.eggshell or flat paint is the best for thechalkiest/flattest finish.

I thought I would post even though it's a little late.I had been looking for a less expensive paint option and finally settled on the Loop brand.I have to say that I am convinced. This paint was spot on, even though the price was the original reason.

We used both brush and rollers and it worked well.I was worried about what with the recycled thing, but there were no bubbles or "grit" in the paint.I would recommend this paint to anyone. It makes me happy that the paint would have polluted or taken storage space somewhere else.

Thank you so much for leaving a review Scott! This is helpful for people who are thinking of trying it.I use loop paint for many of my homemade chalk paint projects and I am very pleased with it.

I have mixed my homemade chalk paint with loop paint and it looks great. The coverage and consistency are great but there is a slight odor when working with it.

No matter how cheap or eco-friendly the paint is at RONA, never buy it.You are spending too much time and money. When you have to apply it 3 times, I stop at 3 because it doesn't cover the walls properly, how can it be eco-friendly?Spending on the good stuff will save you money and time.If you buy Rona Eco brand paint, you will regret it.I have painted my room a couple of times and it only took me about a gallon of paint.I went through 1 1/2 gallon on 3 coats and still had spots.I have been painting for a while.I have painted my house 4 times in the last 8 years and I know what each room is used for.2 gallons for one room? It's ridiculous.Even though it says "low VOC", it still has a smell. You shouldn't expect something good from something that is left over or recycled.

I have 2 gallons of Rona Eco waiting to be tested in my basement, but haven't gotten around to trying it yet.I have good results from other Re-Cycled paints, but I can't comment on Rona Eco.When I use my chalk paint recipes, the coverage has been impressive even though there is a slight odor while painting.Professional painters are some of the trades that M-M- M works with.Sometimes a surplus of quality paints are re-cycled rather than thrown away.I think these companies are doing a great job.

The accent wall I painted was Oak Bark. This is a dark colour.I only needed 2 coats to paint.

You have to use a good quality roller when painting. You will get more coats of paint if you use a cheap roller. It's just that simple.

The end result is eco friendly and covers well.I like Rona Eco paint.I painted my apartment for around 50 dollars because I got the paint on sale.Love.

Thank you for leaving a comment.I have 2 gallons of Rona Eco sitting on my paint shelf, but I haven't tried it yet.It costs fifty dollars to paint an apartment.

This is what I have been doing as well.I like chalk paint and got into it this summer.I make my own.I ordered it online from a company that sells beer.I believe it goes in beer and wine. You said that you use the primer with the paint.I tried it for the first time and it was a ball of goop.I thought it was the primer. It could have been because others have had trouble with Valspar.I appreciate your sharing your knowledge and your expertise.

Competition is stiff already and don't tell everyone about the secret "chepest paint" places. That's right.Great information and fun to read.

Share my tips and tricks to keep people coming back to my site. Thanks for the compliment.

There are mistints at Benjamin-Moore and General Paint.Any place that sells paint. The paint is usually fine, either the employee made a mistake or the customer didn't like the color. It is the best way to find inexspensive paint.I have worked at the paint store for 23 years.
