The circus with the largest animal menagerie, Jolly's (44 animals) attracted the smallest audience (under 50). Touring with animals which are not performing has continued; for example Santus Circus had 2 goats, 5 ponies, a donkey and 4 geese, none performed. Indeed flyers promoting the show stated: “No animals".
