Why did Expos leave Montreal

The Montreal Expos were sold by Charles Brochu to the consortium of scum, David Samson and Jeffrey Loria. The two fought the city of Montreal to build a new stadium downtown, instead of the Olympic Stadium out on Pie IX.They made terrible decisions about the on-field talent, giving manager Felipe Alou very little to work with.

When their bid for a new stadium failed, they literally drove the team into the ground. When the (then) Florida Marlins game up for sale they decided to buy that club… but there is a rule that states you cannot own two franchises in MLB.So they literally abandoned the Expos to work on their new club.

The ownerless Expos were left under the management of MLB, specifically the commissioner (Bud Selig).Zero effort was made to do anything positive with the Expos, only to sell them. When Washington came calling, they got their franchise and moved to the US, abandoning the city that loved them for over 30 years.

By the way, many of us fans would have loved to meet Samson and Loria in a dark alley back then.
