The adhan is a call to prayer.Every prayer and worship event is announced by a mu'addhin from the minaret of the mosque.The adhan is the first thing that a baby should hear.You can say the words in English, Arabic, or any other language that means something to you.
Step 1: Wudu must be done.
To purify yourself, make niyyah and then wash your hands.To focus on why you are doing this, center yourself quietly.Affirm yourself.Gargle water in your mouth to get rid of food.You can clear your breathing passages by inhaling water.To wash your face three times, use your hand to spread water from your right ear to your left ear.You should wash your feet and forearms three times.Take care of your head and ears.If you nullify Wudu, you must repeat it.A bout of deep sleep and any form of body discharge are invalid.
Step 2: Facing the Qibla is a challenge.
The direction of the Kaaba is the Qibla.Muslims face this place when they pray.There are online map apps that can show you the location of the Qibla.Stand in a high place, like a tower, a rooftop, or an upstairs window.
Step 3: Set your intention to call the adhan.
Take a few moments to think about what you are going to do.Think about what this moment means to you, to your faith, and to the people who you are calling.
Step 4: Plug or cover the ears.
Muffle your ears with your fingers, or clasp your hands over the opening from the outside.This is a traditional step.Plugging your ears will help you focus on the words you are about to say.
Step 5: Take the words and make them your own.
Say them in a loud and clear voice.If you feel comfortable singing the words, consider it.If you don't know how to say something, call the adhan.You can find videos and recordings of this call to prayer on the internet.The rest who are praying together will answer every phrase that the muezzin says, with one exception."There is no power or authority except Allah" is what the others should say after "hayya 'alasalah" and "alal falah".
Step 6: Start by calling Allahu Akbar four times.
"Allah is the greatest" is what this means.Group the repetition into two sets.Allahu Akbar!The followers of the Madhabs say this line twice instead of four times.
Step 7: Two times, say Ashhadu ala ilaha illalla.
I testify that there is no god but Allah.Say "ash-hadu ala i-laa-ha ill-all-ah".
Step 8: Ash hadu anna Muhammadar rasoolullah was repeat twice.
I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of God.Say "ash-hadu ana Mu-ha-mud-ar rah-sool all-ah".
Step 9: You can call Hayya 'alasalah twice.
"Come to prayer" is what it means.Say "heyah-'alas sal-ah".
Step 10: Say Hayya "alal falah" two times.
"Come to success" is what it means.Say "hey-ah-alal -FA-lah".
Step 11: Say it's a sect-specific line.
Some people disagree about what happens after "Hayya'ala al-falah" and before "Allahu Akbar".The school of Islam you follow will affect the words you use here.Be careful not to offend anyone.If you don't know what to do, skip this line and move on to the next phrase.If you are a Sunni, you should say that."Prayer is better than sleep" is what it means.When calling Fajr, use this line.Say "Hayya- al Khair al amal" if you are a Shia.Worshipers are encouraged to "Hasten toward the best thing."
Step 12: "Allahu Akbar" is repeated twice.
Step 13: If you want to finish, say "La ilaha illallah".
There is no worthy of worship except God.According to the four schools, most muezzins only say it once.The last line of the adhan is not invalid if it is only said once, as the Imamis hold.
Step 14: Say the adhan.
You don't need to fill this space with a du'a, but mustahabb is preferred.A du'a is a prayer.Say, "Allahumma Rabba Hathihil Da'awati Taamma WaSalatil-qaa'ima."
Step 15: Allow the iqama.
This is the last call to prayer before salah.Asking a respected member of your community about exactly what to say is a good way to find out what the exact words are.The prayer session can begin once you say the iqama.Say the iqama with a lower voice.People should still be able to hear you, but they should be closer now.The prayer is going to start straight after you finish, so you should recite the iqama quicker.During iqamah, you say qad qaama tis-salaah after the prayer has begun.Some people say this many times.This depends on the school of jurisprudence followed.According to a saheeh hadith, saying it twice is sunnah.
