Step 1: Cut your faux fur into a circle
Cut the faux fur in a circle.Use a lid, small plate, or other circular object as a guide.A 6 inch circle will create a pom pom that will fit in your hand.Depending on the size you want your pom pom to be, you can make the circle larger or smaller.
Step 2: Baste along the edge of the circle.
Use heavy duty thread, fishing line, or yarn to thread your needle.The needle should be inserted along the outer edge of the circle.To create a stitch around the outside of the circle, you need to weave the needle in and out of fabric.You may not be able to shape the pom pom if you make the stitches too close together.Keep them about 12” apart.
Step 3: Pull the ends of the thread.
Pull the ends of the thread after you have woven the entire circle.The circle of fabric will be shaped into a pom pom shape.The stitches may be too tight if you can't pull in the fabric by pulling on the thread.You may need to remove the thread to start over.You should leave an opening at the top of the pom pom.Before you close it, you need to fill it with stuffing.
Step 4: The pompom needs to be stuffed.
nylon stuffing, cotton balls, or scrap fabric can be used to stuff your pom pom.The stuffing should be placed in the center of the pom pom.Do not overfill the pom pom.It will be a round shape if you add just enough.
Step 5: Tie the thread when you tighten it.
Pull the thread to tighten it and then tie the ends of it together when you are happy with the level of stuffing in your pom pom.To make sure your pom pom is secure, tie a few knots.Your pom pom is ready to use after you finish tying the knots.
Step 6: Cut out a couple of circles.
Cut out two circles in the same size to make a large pom pom.You can make circles in any size you want.A pom pom is about the size of a fist if you use two circles.Cut larger circles if you want your pom pom to be larger.When cutting out circles, use a plate, container lid, or other circular object as a guide.
Step 7: Place circles so that the right side faces each other.
There is a print on the right side of the fabric.The sides of the fur are facing each other.You may want to sew the edges of the circles together to keep them lined up.
Step 8: Cut around the edges.
Use a sewing machine to sew a straight stitch along the edges of the circles, but leave about a 2 inch gap to flip the pom poms inside out and to insert your stuffing.To keep the stuffing inside of your fur pom poms, you'll want to use a sewing machine.If you don't have a sewing machine, you can sew the edges of the circles together.As you sew, remove the pins.
Step 9: It's time to get out of the house.
You can turn the fabric inside out by sewing the edges together.The outside of your faux fur fabric will be put to the fur side.If the gap is too small to pull the fabric through, use a seam ripper or scissors to widen it.
Step 10: The pom pom must be stuffed.
When the fur is outside again, fill the pom pom with nylon stuffing, cotton balls, or scrap fabric.You don't need to overstuff the pom pom.The pom pom can be made with just enough stuffing.
Step 11: The sew opening was closed.
If you are happy with the stuffing level of your pom pom, sew the gap closed to finish it.To close the gap, use a needle and thread.As you sew the gap closed, try to keep the edges of the fabric hidden.After the gap is fixed, your pom pom is ready to use.
Step 12: The pom pom should be in a hat.
If you want to sew your faux fur pom pom onto a hat, you need to insert the needle through the top of the hat.When threading through the pom pom and hat, make sure to tie off the ends of the thread.
Step 13: A furry keychain is what you can make.
There are faux fur pom pom keychains.You can make a faux fur pom pom with a chain and hook.Pull the thread through the end of the chain by threading your needle.Heavy duty thread, fishing line, or yarn can be used.The needle should be inserted through the pom pom and the end of the chain.To secure it, tie off the thread.Add a hook to the other end of the chain to finish it off.
Step 14: Make a piece of clothing better.
