You can make a masked person.

In the early 20th century, Zorro was a popular character. He has starred in a number of shows and movies.A simple eye mask and all-black attire remained the same as his costume changed slightly from version to version. You can make a better, more authentic mask at home than you can get from the store.

Step 1: A 512 inch strip of black fabric should be cut.

The width of the fabric should be cut down.Depending on the bolt, the strip can be 44 to 60 inches long.A soft fabric is flannel or jersey.

Step 2: Feel where your eyes are by covering your face.

Pick the center of the mask and drape it over your eyes. The center of the mask should be in line with your nose.To trace your eyes, use a white dressmaker's chalk or pencil. If you have a Styrofoam wig head, you can use it as a base.

Step 3: The eyes have to be defined.

The mask should be spread on a flat surface. To draw almond-shapes, use a white dressmaker's chalk or pencil. It is easier to cut away material than it is to add it back.

Step 4: Remove the eyes.

If you want to be more precise, cut one eye out first and then fold the mask in half. The cut eye is a template for the second one.

Step 5: If you want to make any adjustments, try the mask on.

Long tails trail down his back as he ties his mask behind his head. The tails should hit your shoulder blades.Use a pin to mark where you need to cut, then remove the mask and trim off the excess fabric.Make sure you are cutting the same amount of fabric. The mask should be wide enough to cover the bridge of your nose.Cut it narrower if it's too wide.Make the eye openings wider if you cut them too small.Don't expose your eyebrows.

Step 6: Wear the mask.

If you want to get authentic, put a black bandana over your head first, with the bottom edge reaching the middle of your forehead.Wrap the mask around your eyes and tie it at the back of your head. The bandana's knot should be placed about the mask.It will be prevented from slipping down.

Step 7: There is a mask shape on a sheet of paper.

You can print out a template from the internet or use a simple eye mask.A bean-shaped mask can be drawn by hand.Make sure it's long enough to cover your eyes and nose bridge, and wide enough for you to walk from temple to temple.

Step 8: Attach the template to the child's face.

To mark out where the eyes should be, use a pencil. If the mask is too big, cut it smaller. If the mask is too small, make it bigger.

Step 9: The template can be used to cut out the mask.

The template should be placed against a black felt or flannel sheet.Use a white dressmaker's chalk or pencil to trace it.Cut the mask out after removing the template.Don't forget to remove the eye holes as well.Black vinyl or faux leather can also be used.

Step 10: Take a strip of black elastic and cut it.

The elastic has to be long enough to stretch around the back of your child's head and each side of the mask.If the elastic is loose, it won't stay on.Plan on using 7 to 9 inches of elastic. You can use black ribbon or vinyl instead of elastic.Make each strip 20 inches long.

Step 11: Attach the elastic to the mask.

The mask should be turned so that the back is facing you.The elastic should be placed on each side of the mask.Make sure that the ends of the elastic are facing in one direction.Place them in place with sewing pins. The elastic should overlap the mask by about 12 inch.

Step 12: Black thread is used to sew down elastic.

If you do this on a sewing machine, you can also do it by hand.If you are doing this on a sewing machine, be sure to sew up and down the elastic a few times so that it is secure.

Step 13: Your child's costume should include a mask.

The elastic makes it easier for the child to take the mask off.If the child gets tired of wearing the mask, he or she can slide it down and let it dangle from their neck.If you used ribbon or vinyl straps, you need to tie them in a bow behind the child's head.
