The engine will run hot if the engine coolant level is not high enough.There won't be enough coolant to get to the temperature sensor.The temp reading will be lower without the coolant hitting the sensor.The Crown Victoria's fan won't kick on.
Don't fill it up until the engine cools off.If the engine temp sensor is not triggered, it can cause problems from a drastic temperature change.It's best to let it cool down first.
