The door boot is in the washer.The lower portion of the boot needs to be grasped firmly.Roll, then push the lower edge inward over the lip of the front panel until you see the silver retaining ring or band that holds the boot in the channel.Use a flat-tipped screwdriver and needle-nose pliers to pry the retaining ring out.You don't want to bend it when you remove it.The gasket needs to be removed in the front.You will need the retaining ring for the installation of the new gasket.The inner portion of the boot can be accessed if you push the gasket into the washer tub.

Remove the inner side of the boot from the opening before the washer drum.The inner portion of the door gasket can be removed by removing the holding screws.If your model has a tab that sticks up to pull down gently on the boot, you will be able to extricate it from the channel.If you pull the gasket away, you can get to the retaining ring insert.The previous step should be repeated to remove the retaining ring.Pull the gasket from the inner channel if you don't have a ring.You will reuse the retaining ring if you set it aside.

The boot and ring sit in the inner and outer channels.To remove lint and laundry debris, use a clean rag and warm water.If you have a wet-dry vacuum, use it to suck out the dirt if it's wet, otherwise use a standard vacuum to clean the channels.

Put your finger in liquid laundry detergent to Lubricate the part of the boot that inserts into the front and back channels.It's easier to put the new boot in.

To install it, align the boot.Some boots have a small tab that goes into a slot on the machine for alignment, while others may have an arrow.The boot should be put in the opposite order of removal.Start at the bottom of the washer and work your way around the circle opening on both sides to the top.Place the ice cream stick into the channel.To hold the gasket in place, insert the retaining ring.The circular piece of steel should be inserted after the gasket.

Put the other components back in place.Put the washer on the floor and plug it in.
