How To Curl Long Thick Hair

Sometimes thick hair can be hard to Curl. With so much hair, it can take a long time to get the look you want, as the curls tend to fall out due to the hair's weight. There are three ways to add curl to your hair: using a curling iron, the t-shirt method, and the sock bun method.

Step 1: Start with dry hair.

Curls fall out of oily hair if you use too much conditioner.Curls will fall out if your hair is long and thick, so don't do it.

Step 2: It's a good idea to apply a heat protecting serum.

It's a good idea to apply a serum before you use a curling iron because it can damage your hair.In the hair styling section of drugstores, there is a product meant to protect your hair from heat damage.

Step 3: Put a curling iron in the oven.

If you want big, loose curls, use a bigger iron. One that has a smaller barrel is a good choice for tighter curls.Try to use a ceramic iron. The hotter these curling irons are, the longer they last for thick, long hair.

Step 4: Wrap your hair around the curling iron.

Wrap a two-inch section of hair around the barrel, starting with the hair that grows above your forehead.Roll it over so that the hair is pulled away from your face.Hold it there for three seconds, then remove the curling iron, and use a pin to hold the curl in place.Don't hold the curling iron for too long.Too much heat exposure can cause your hair to dry out.Don't wrap your bangs with the rest of your hair. They should be styled differently.

Step 5: Curl the rest of your hair using the same method.

Wrap it in two-inch sections around the curling iron, hold on for three seconds, then slip out the iron and pin the curl to your head.Ask a friend to help you out if you need help curling the back.Curls on the back of your head can be difficult. For a tousled look, experiment with curling sections of your hair in different directions.

Step 6: Administer a spray to your hair.

It is a good idea to spray your hair when it is pinned up.If you want your hair to stay in place all day, use a maximum hold spray.

Step 7: The pins need to be removed.

After your hair has cooled from the iron, remove the pins and let the curls fall to your shoulders. If you want, you can apply more hair spray. You can run your fingers through the curls to make them softer.

Step 8: Take care of your hair.

Curls are more likely to fall out over the course of the day if you over-condition.While your hair is wet, use a wide-toothed comb to remove tangles.Place a towel over it to dry it.

Step 9: You can make t-shirt strips.

Cut an old t-shirt into strips with scissors.Place the scissors at the neck and cut down to the hem, then repeat along the neckline until you have enough strips to roll up your entire head of hair. The strips should be longer than your hair. You can use long socks, dishtowels, or any piece of cotton fabric that is the same length as your hair if you don't have an old t-shirt.If you want small, tight curls, narrow the strips. For larger curls, make them wider by 2 or 3 inches.

Step 10: The hair should be rolled in the strips.

A section of hair should be separated from the rest.Line up the end of a t-shirt strip with the tip of the hair if you want it to be smooth.Roll the hair up in the strip by rolling it toward you.Tie the ends of the strip to hold it in place.Continue until all of your hair has been rolled. To achieve a tousled effect, roll hair in different directions. If you want waves that only extend halfway up your hair, you have to stop.

Step 11: Let your hair dry.

Wait several hours or overnight for your hair to dry.Curls won't last very long if you remove the strips before your hair is dry.

Step 12: Take out the t-shirt strips.

If your hair is completely dry, untie the strips and let it fall to your shoulders. To hold them in place, use hair spray, gel or mousse.

Step 13: Start by wet hair.

Either wash and condition your hair as usual, or wet it and pat it dry to prepare for this method.Make sure that your hair is free of tangles.

Step 14: Your hair should be in a ponytail.

If you want to secure your hair with an elastic band, bend over and use a comb to gather it at the top of your head.It needs to be free of bumps and tangles.

Step 15: Make a bun.

Take a clean tube sock, cut off the toe, and roll it into a donut shape. The bigger the donut, the bigger your hair will be.Pull your hair through by placing the donut over it.Wrap your hair around the donut and tuck it underneath a section at a time.Continue until your hair is in place over the donut.

Step 16: Let your hair dry.

Wait several hours or overnight for your hair to dry.If it's completely dry, remove the bun and let your hair fall out.The method results in wavy hair. They should be kept in place with spray or gel.
