How To Curl Short Hair

You may not have much hair to work with, so curling short hair can be a challenge. You may want to change up your hair style for a special event or just for fun.Prepare your hair with styling spray, heat protectant, and a good brush before curling it.Curl it with a curling iron.If you don't have access to styling tools, you can use pens, pencils and bobby pins.

Step 1: Texturizing spray is good for dry hair.

Texturizing your hair will give it more volume and body. You can use this product to hold the curls for a longer period of time. The spray should be applied all over your hair.If you just washed your hair, a texturizing spray is a good option. You can find texturizing spray at your local beauty supply store or online.

Step 2: Let the spray or gel dry.

If you have fine hair, use a heat protectant spray. If you have thick hair, get a heat protectant. All over your hair, apply the product. It will keep your hair shiny and undamaged. You can buy heat protectant gel or spray at your local beauty supply store. If you want your hair to dry, put the protectant in for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3: You can brush or comb your hair.

To brush your hair, use a good comb or brush. From root to ends, brush or comb.It will help to distribute the heat protectant and make sure there are no knots in your hair.If you want to add volume to your hair, you can use a round brush.

Step 4: The top layer of your hair needs to be clipped.

Pull hair from either side of your head. You can clip it up with a hair clip.It will be easier to curl the bottom layer of your hair with this.If you have short hair, you may not have much of a top layer to clip up.Skip this step if this is the case.

Step 5: Get a curling iron with a wand.

It's important that the wand is large enough to give your hair short hair Curls, but not too big.You can buy a curling iron at your local beauty supply store.

Step 6: Use a flat iron.

You can find a flat iron at your local beauty supply store or online.

Step 7: Take a small amount of hair from behind your ear.

The curling iron is in your hand.If you have short hair, you can only grab a small amount of hair at a time.Take a small amount at the front of your hair.

Step 8: Wrap the hair around the wand, away from your face.

Wrap the hair around the wand tightly and away from your roots. If you have short hair, you may only be able to wrap it around the wand once.To create a C-curl, you need to wrap your hair at least 1.5 times. You need to wrap your hair around the wand 2.5 times.

Step 9: Medium to thick hair can be held around the wand for 30 seconds.

Set your temperature to around 400 degrees. If your hair is color treated, you shouldn't use a hotter temperature. Those with fine hair or double-processed hair should stick to a lower temperature. If you have fine hair, you can let it sit for a while. If you count out loud, the hair will have enough time to use the wand. You can use a timer to make sure you hold your hair on the curling wand.

Step 10: Hold your hair in your hand for 3-6 seconds.

Once the hair has sat around the wand for 30 seconds, you can slowly let go of it.Hold the hair in your palm for 3-6 seconds to set it.

Step 11: You can change the curling direction of your hair.

Try curling the next section towards your face if you curled one piece away. The curling direction can be changed to give your hair more volume.Make sure you have the same amount of hair in each section and that you alternate it all the way around for an even look.

Step 12: The bottom layer should be Curled from one side to the other.

Take 4 to 1 inch (1.9 to 2.5 cm) of hair at a time.Work from the front of your hair all the way to the other side.Try to get the same shape and size.

Step 13: The same steps are used for the top layer of your hair.

Curl 4 to 1 inch (1.9 to 2.5 cm) pieces of hair at a time after releasing the hair that has been clipped.Curls stay in place if you catch and hold them. When curling hair at the front, take your time.Be careful not to burn your fingers while wrapping the hair around the wand.If you have short pieces in the top layer, you can wrap them around the wand. The volume will be added to the top layer. The "bubble look" is considered to be dated by some.

Step 14: Your hair should be cool for 1-2 minutes.

Curls should sit and cool once you have curled them.Don't touch them or move them. This will make it easier for them to set.

Step 15: To make the curls a bit tousled, use your hands.

After your hair has cooled, take some of it out of your hands and put it in the hair.Shake them out with your hands. You can run your hands through your hair if you toss the front of it to one side. This will give the hair a messy look.If you want to tousle your curls without ruining them, massage your hair and then slide your hands into your roots. You should not use a brush or comb to mess up your hair.

Step 16: Curls can be set with hair spray.

Apply hair spray to your head to set your short hair.Don't use a lot of hair spray because it will dry your curls out.If you want your hair to be more natural looking throughout the day, you can skip putting hair spray on it.

Step 17: Start with hair that is wet or damp.

If you just got out of the shower and your hair is still wet, you can use this method. You can use a spray bottle filled with water to wet your hair. It's easier for the curls to hold if you have wet or damp hair.

Step 18: You can wrap your hair around twice with a tube-shaped object.

You can use pens, pencils, or even a tube of mascara. If you want to have nice looking hair, you should look for a tube-shaped object that is wide enough so you can wrap your hair around it twice. You can try to wrap the object around your hair by taking a piece of it.You should use the piece if you can get it around your hair twice.A skinny pen and a wide tube of mascara are examples of objects that are different width. This will allow you to use the skinner object to curl hair that is shorter.

Step 19: Wrap the section of hair around the object twice.

There is a section of hair between your fingers.Take the object out of your hand and put it at the top of the hair.Wrap the object around your face and hair.Wrap it around until the object is above the ground. You only have a few inches to work with if you have very short hair. You can wrap your hair around the object if you take up enough of it.Rolling your hair backwards will give it more volume.

Step 20: Pull out the object.

To remove the object from the wrapped hair, use your fingers. It should come out easily. As you pull the object out, use your other hand to keep the wrapped hair in place.

Step 21: Curled hair can be clipped with hair clips.

Hold the hair in place with one hand and use the other to secure it with hair clips. The hair should stay in place with 1 to 2 hair clips.Pincurl clips can be used.

Step 22: Curl the rest of your hair

Curl another piece of hair using the same steps.Make sure your hair wraps around the object at least once if the piece of hair is shorter. If you want to give your hair a more natural look, try alternating the direction in which you curl it.If you wrapped a piece of hair around an object away from your face, you could wrap the next one around your own face.

Step 23: Curl your bangs with your thumb and forefinger.

Take the skinner of the objects you have on hand if you want to have short bangs or very short hair in the front.Put the object at the ends of your hair by holding a piece of hair in one hand.Roll the object down your hair, keeping it in place with your thumb and forefinger.Pin the hair in place after removing the object. You can only wrap the shorter pieces around the object. This will give your hair some strength.Roll the shorter pieces away from your face.If you want the curls to shape your face more, you can roll the shorter pieces towards it.This could cause a dated look if you have bangs.

Step 24: Your hair should be wrapped in a scarf.

Wrap a silk scarf around your hair after you have curled it and secured it with hair clips. You should tie it at the back of your head. When it dries, the scarf will help to keep your hair from becoming unruly. If you don't have a scarf, you can use a shower cap.

Step 25: Allow your hair to be set for a couple of hours.

You need to give your hair time to set naturally because you are not using any heat with this method.Allow your hair to dry under the scarf for several hours or sleep with it so it doesn't get wet during the night.

Step 26: You can remove the hair clips with your hands.

Carefully remove the hair clips one at a time after you have let your hair set.Use your fingers to separate them so they look natural. You can either run your fingers through them or shake them lightly. This will flatten the curls if you brush or comb them.

Step 27: Use hair spray to set your hair.

Curls can be secured with hair spray all over your hair.If you apply a small amount, your hair will not become stiff. If you want your hair to have a messy, natural look, run your hands through it.
