How To Fulfill Your Dream

Whether you want to learn to fly planes or write a great American novel, there are ways to fulfill these goals. To keep your motivation up, you'll need to narrow down your focus. You can see step 1 to begin fulfilling your dreams.

Step 1: Try new things.

You might not know what your dreams are. That's okay! You can try out new things to find things you love.It can help you find people and ideas that will help fulfill your dreams.Do things that you wouldn't normally do.If your idea of a perfect afternoon is sitting at home and reading a book, try hiking or taking a cooking class. The more you try, the more likely you will find something that interests you.If you volunteer in an organization you are interested in, you can get a good idea about certain things. It's a good way to get experience without a lot of expectation.

Step 2: What is important?

It's hard to know how to achieve a dream if you don't know what you want to do.Think about what makes you want to do it.You can be vague and unspecific at this time.Think of it as a form of creativity.Think about what makes you happy. Is it performing in front of an audience? Is it saving the whales? Is it teaching or reading? Is it doing research on folk music?Do you prefer to be at work or at school? What would you like to be doing if there were no obstacles? The space should be created to consider these ideas. It's good to try things out with other people and ask them their opinions on what they like.If you do things by yourself, you can fully experience things and decide if they fit into your ideas for your dreams.

Step 3: You need to narrow your focus.

Once you have large and vague ideas about what you want to do, it's time to narrow your focus so you can actually do it.It will be easier to set goals and timelines if you are more specific. It is possible to fulfill your dream in ways you may not have expected. If you want to make music instead of playing at big venues, you can use it to teach underprivileged children or help people who are dying. It is possible to do your dream on the side of your job.You could run a 12k marathon or climb the highest mountain on each continent. You can have more than one. Most people work towards fulfilling more than one dream.

Step 4: Do your research.

It's time to start looking into how to accomplish your dreams once you have an idea.If you don't research the best ways to achieve your dream, you're more likely to fail.If you want to achieve something, talk to someone who has done it.You can read autobiographies of people who have climbed the highest mountains in the world. You could try to get in contact with some of them to see if they have any tips on how to make your success more likely. To achieve your dreams, look into what you need to do.If you want to run a 12k marathon, you'll need to figure out how much training you need, and how long you should take.If you want to become an archaeologist, you'll need to look into the requirements for your area, as well as the types of school you attend. If it seems like your goal is going to involve a lot of hard work and money, don't be discouraged. If you get discouraged at the beginning, you'll never be able to achieve it.People don't achieve their goals because they sabotage themselves with worry about money or time.

Step 5: Make goals.

You will need to make specific goals and time-frames that will help you keep on track once you have an idea of what you want. This doesn't mean that things will stay the same.It will give you a good idea of what kind of work, money, and time is needed if you are flexible. If you want to be an archaeologist, you should make a list of goals that include writing a thesis, learning Greek and Latin, and getting into a good graduate program. It's a good idea to set a time frame. The timelines will have the big goals and small goals. The small goals can be things like turning in important essays or writing a resume.Going on an archaeological dig to see if you really want to be a historian or professor is one of the big goals.Things will change. You have to be flexible. You may realize halfway through that you want to do something else if you underestimate the time it will take to achieve certain of your dreams. That's alright! The goal is for you to feel fulfilled.

Step 6: It's time to eliminate the negative vibes.

Negative thinking is one of the biggest obstacles to achieving your goals. If you're constantly thinking that you don't have what it takes, and that your dreams are too far away, then you will not achieve them.Send negative thoughts on their way when you acknowledge them.If you think "I'm never going to achieve my goal to get published by thirty, but if that doesn't happen, it does not mean I am a failure", then acknowledge the thought and change it.Don't compare yourself to other people. There will always be people who are closer to fulfilling their dreams than you are.You should respect them for the work they've done and focus on your own dreams.Eliminate people who try to hurt you.Children are told from a young age that they can't do either.Ignore the voices that are negative. If you wanted to go into space as a child, you can. It's possible if you put in the hard work.

Step 7: Keep learning.

You will find it easier to overcome obstacles if you keep your mind sharp.Learning doesn't have to be boring. It can be anything from learning a new language to fixing cars. There are free online classes for all kinds of subjects.Free online classes for subjects ranging from Medieval studies to mathematics and sciences can be found at programs like Open University.Lectures on all kinds of topics can be had for free at libraries, museums, and universities.Try out a lecture even if you don't know much about the topic. You can find a new passion or dream. You are more likely to fulfill your dreams if you keep your brain sharp and healthy.People who keep learning find it easier to find solutions to obstacles that may arise in their path.

Step 8: You can learn from your mistakes.

When you make a mistake, look at what went wrong. It's a chance to figure out what you should do the next time. You can't avoid mistakes along the road. Before you look at the mistake, take some time to think about it.The knee jerk response to a mistake is to feel bad and want to cover it up.It's easier to go back and see what went wrong when you've given yourself time away.Say you've been working very hard to become a published author. You've written a book and had a few people look at it and give you suggestions. The publishing company rejected it after all the hard work. You should look at your work. Was it right for that company? The cover letter or synopsis was less than stellar. Is there anything you can do to improve your manuscript?Answering these questions with clear eyes will make your manuscript and accompanying material better the next time around.

Step 9: Work hard.

Unfortunately, dreams don't fulfill themselves. The things that are important to you will require a lot of work. This means practicing, putting yourself out there, and learning from your mistakes.People who appear to have gotten good fortune usually put in a lot of work behind the scenes. They've been making mistakes and trying things out while networking with people who can help them.Success ends up being what people notice, so you don't see a lot of that. You don't have to begrudge the hours you spend working on your goal.It may be time to check in with yourself if you find that you no longer enjoy what you're doing. It's possible that you need to find a different dream.

Step 10: Ask for help.

Nobody achieved anything on their own.People helped facilitate their ideas, drove them to their soccer practice, or cheered on their efforts from the sideline. If you want to achieve something important to you, ask for help. When that manuscript was rejected, you could go to someone who you know will be honest with you.If you want them to pick out the weak points in your manuscript, don't be afraid to ask. This will help you improve.Ask someone you admire how they got to where they are.Good advice for those still in the process can be found from people who are closer to achieving their dreams.

Step 11: You can connect with other people.

A strong foundation is what people who fulfill their dreams tend to have.People who help you when you ask, people who encourage you, and so on.You are less likely to have opportunities if you don't connect with people.Networking can make things happen. It can lead to a job, a book being published, and a new dream. There are opportunities to meet people in your area.If you want to become a journalist, you need to go to the journalist convention and talk to people.Every interaction is an opportunity. You don't know where your next connection will come from.It could be that girl you met on the plane, or your boss at work.Talk to people, let them know what you're interested in, and make sure you pay attention to who they are and what they do.Help build a community. It is easier to fulfill your dreams when you have a strong support group. While you focus on your dreams, you are also focusing on benefiting and connecting with other people on a personal level.

Step 12: Deal with obstacles.

No one who has ever tried to achieve their dreams has been given a free ride. There are a lot of obstacles.Being flexible can help you deal with them. The need to do everything perfectly is one of the obstacles to fulfilling your dreams. It is unlikely that you will ever get started on your dreams. It's usually an excuse for not doing something.I can't start until I know what I'm doing. You're afraid to fail because you'll find out that this isn't what you wanted, and other people will think your dreams are stupid. It's the same as letting go of control. You have no idea what the future holds because you can't control how people think about you.Bring your mind back to the task at hand, without thinking about the bigger picture. There may be other obstacles that you can't see. What do you need to do to overcome this obstacle? What happens if you don't?How did this happen? What would you do if there were no restrictions?Creative solutions to obstacles can be unlocked by these questions.

Step 13: Be realistic.

This doesn't mean you have the right to be negative.Being realistic and being negative are different things. You don't think you can achieve your dreams if you're negative.Being realistic means that there will be obstacles along the way.Try out acting classes and acting school to see if you really want to be an actor instead of quitting your job and moving to L.A.You need to save money so that you have a safety net.Being realistic doesn't mean that you use obstacles to delay.Setting goals is so important here. When I have more money, I'm moving to L.A. to look into acting opportunities.I'm going to take acting classes and work in local theaters until then.

Step 14: Stay focused.

Staying motivated to achieve their dreams is a problem that people have. It's easy to be distracted.Pushing through hard times means staying motivated. The focus should be on the small steps. You're going to get overwhelmed if you look at the big picture. There is going to be a lot of work for a person trying to become an archaeologist. If you want to focus on the next thing instead of the end goal, you have to finish an essay or graduate from college.Stay motivated by having a plan.It is not a defeatist attitude to have plans when your motivation is low. You're going to need a boost along the way because of setbacks or exhaustion.Take a short break, remind yourself what you're trying to accomplish, and look at what other people have accomplished. This is what you really want.Sometimes you lose motivation for something because you no longer have the same dreams that you used to.There's nothing wrong with this!Maybe it's time to look in a different direction for fulfillment.

Step 15: Don't take risks.

You can't fulfill your dreams if you always take the safe option. There are dreams that involve risk. They involve putting yourself out there and hoping for the best.Hard work, planning, and being flexible can get you a good long way, but for the rest, you have to be willing to try.Even if you're starting small, don't wait to accomplish your dreams. If you want to run a marathon, start training immediately.
