The XMB Group designed the forum software that is also known as a message board.Users can easily modify it using a database.There are many hacks available for the forum and themes.Users can share any modifications or themes they design with the other users on the forum.You can have a fully functional forum in 15 minutes.
Step 1: If you already have the forum package on your computer, skip this step.
You have to download the forum software.In your internet browser, go to the forum site.The latest version of the forum can be found at the top left corner under the Download XMB title.
Step 2: You should be getting a notification when you download.
desktop is recommended if you choose the option to save the file.You will need it soon, remember where you saved it.
Step 3: If you already created a database for your forum, skip this step.
To get to the database section, you need to go to your server's control panel.You need to create a new database, add a user with full privileges, and remember the database name and password.
Step 4: The contents of the forum zip file can be found on your hard drive.
To connect to your server, open yourFTP client.If you wish the forum to be installed, create a new directory in your server.If you want to transfer the files from the forum files to the new directory, you have to locate them on your hard disk and open the main folder.This will take some time.
Step 5: There is an XMB Installer.
Go to your domain's forum folder in your internet browser and add install at the end.It should look similar to the following, your actual domainname and folder name will be displayed.You should go to a page titled that.
Step 6: If you follow the instructions on the website, you will end up on a page that says Installation Complete.
Check your database settings and confirm the location of your forum if the installation didn't work.
Step 7: You can sign up in the upper right corner of the forum.
You can log in with the information you provided.You should see a few more options at the corner.You can make any changes to your forum on this page.
Step 8: Under the title General, select the option settings.
The Board Rules are the first step of a new user registration and can be found in the top menu bar.Additional languages can be downloaded from the XMB website.Selecting will add optional fields for the user to enter when they register to your forum.The scrolling text at the top of your forum's index page can be changed to display any text you want.
Step 9: Under the title Look & Feel, select the option Themes.
Go to the left of the button if you want to make a change.If you want to make your own custom theme, trial and error, fill out the values and look at the index page.The colour values are either words or hexadecimal.
Step 10: Under the title, select the option forums.
A group of forums are called a category.threads are posted in a forumA sub-board is where other threads can be posted.
Step 11: To make a new category, click on the text field that reads New Category and type in the name you want to give it, for example Welcome Center.
Step 12: To make a new forum, click on the text field that reads New Forum and type in the name you wish to give it.
Pick the category you want your new forum to be listed under in the On/Off menu.A new forum and a sub-board work the same way.
Step 13: In the order box, type the number in which you want the function to appear compared to the other categories, forums in the same category, or sub-boards.
To remove something, select the option to the left.You have to hit every time you fill out a form to have the changes take effect.
