How To Keep Garden Slugs as Pets

There are a lot of garden slugs in the garden, making them an easy pet to find.Information and supplies are all you need to have a pet.Let's start!

Step 1: Make a hole in the ground.

An old aquarium with a lid, a clear plastic box from the dollar store, and a photo storage box are just some of the things you can use for a habitat. If you use a plastic box or container, you should always drill or poke holes in it to make it easier for your animal to breathe. You probably will escape if you make the holes too big.If one of your slugs gets sick or if you clean the habitat, make sure to have a smaller back-up habitat.

Step 2: twigs and sticks are added.

A layer of soil or dirt is needed for the base of the habitat. It can come from a store. The tank bottom is usually covered by most snails owners.Garden pebbles or fish rocks can be added to the bottom of the tank.Add soil or dirt, then add a thin layer of grass or leaves.Remember to put hide-out places for when you're scared.

Step 3: The habitat should be clean and appropriate for a slug.

Most of the time, slugs need their habitats cleaned. Most pet owners keep their slugs's habitat outside because they can get loose very easily.Every hour, or two times a day minimum, use a bottle to spray down your slugs' habitat. It will keep the water in the habitat.Every two weeks, carefully clean your slug's habitat.Add fresh soil, dirt, leaves, grass, and food to your back-up habitat by placing your snail(s) in it.After a month, most pet owners let their pets loose. This is not a big deal.

Step 4: You should give your slugs fresh food at least once a day.

Most pet owners give their pets fresh fruit and vegetables.Any will do well.If you notice something strange with a certain food, you should check the snail site.

Step 5: If you want to prevent fruit flies from killing your slugs, you need to discard any leftover food.

Step 6: The garden slugs can live for 6 months to a year.

Some slugs are as old as 6 years. They don't need as much care as a snail.
