How To Make a Wonder Woman Costume

Wonder Woman's costume demonstrates how she is both powerful and attractive.Whether you are making a costume for an adult or a child, there are many ways to make it at home.

Step 1: There is a tight red top.

If you want to make a more accurate Wonder Woman costume, go for a red bustier or red tube top.If possible, look for one in a glossy material.Use a snug red tank top for a more modest variation. The open side of the dress can be cut from the top.

Step 2: A gold emblem is needed for the top.

Duct tape with gold should suffice. There are many designs you can use for the emblem, from simple W shapes to elaborate eagle patterns, which can be found online. One option is to cut a W-shaped eagle out of craft foam, spray paint it gold, and glue it to the top.Line the top edge of your bustier, swimsuit, or tank top with gold tape. For something a little more daring, create a double-layer W with wings or straight horizontal lines coming off the top ends of both W shapes.

Step 3: There is a short blue skirt or blue shorts.

The upper to mid-thigh is usually covered by the bottom half of the costume.Blue gym shorts can work as well as high waisted boy shorts.Wonder Woman used to wear a blue miniskirt in the old comics. In some modern versions of the comic, Wonder Woman is wearing tight blue or black pants, so if you are not comfortable wearing shorts or a skirt, you could go this route. She wears a skirt with strips of fabric hanging down in the film.If you want to create this look, you need to find strips of scrap leather and paint them blue, then sew or glue them to the bottom of your bustier.

Step 4: The bottoms can be decorated with stars.

To add stars to the skirt or shorts, cut them from white fabric, white tape, or white construction paper. To apply the stars generously, use fabric glue.

Step 5: There is a pair of knee-high boots.

If it's hard to find red boots, spray paint them red and get the boots in any color.Duct tape or electrical tape can be used to cover the boot.Regular shoes can be covered with knee-high red softball socks.

Step 6: The boots should be decorated with white duct tape.

The top of each boot leg should be white. There is a white stripe down the center of the boot.

Step 7: There is a red t-shirt or tank top.

If the child will be wearing the costume for a chilly night of trick-or-treating, choose a red tank top, t-shirt, or long-sleeved shirt.

Step 8: The Wonder Woman emblem can be created with tape.

Since the top won't have a deep neckline for the emblem, you can use yellow electrical tape or gold duct tape to make nested W's on the front of the shirt. You can find gold glitter foam at craft stores. If you don't have tape, use a black Sharpie to draw the design on the shirt.Place a piece of cardboard or something similar inside the shirt as you draw so that the ink doesn't bleed through to the back

Step 9: A blue skirt can be found.

If you are comfortable dressing your child in shorts, a skirt will add a bit of length and femininity to the costume. It can be cotton, jersey, or denim and you can wear it with a blue tutu.

Step 10: Nude tights give you added warmth.

If your child will be trick-or-treating in this costume and you are concerned about keeping them warm, find nude-colored tights or panty hose to wear under the skirt. At most drugstores, these can be purchased cheaply.

Step 11: The skirt should be decorated with white stars.

Cut stars from white fabric, felt, or paper, then sew or glue them to the skirt with fabric glue.Allow your child to help you decorate the skirt with the stickers if you can find them. They may need to be glue so that they don't fall off.

Step 12: There are knee-high red socks.

Unless your child already has knee-high boots, it will be cheaper to just buy socks that go up to their knees.Pull the socks over the flats to create a boot-like look.

Step 13: White tape is added to the socks.

Duct tape or electrical tape can be used to line the center of the socks. There is a circle of white around the top of the socks. If you don't have white tape, you can sew or glue long strips of fabric to the sock by tearing up an old white t-shirt.

Step 14: If your child wants a cape, add one.

Many child versions of the Wonder Woman costume have a cape.Simply find a long stretch of red fabric and either sew it to the top of the shirt or put a safety pin on it.

Step 15: Find a gold belt.

You can spray paint a wide belt with gold metallic paint or cut a simple sash belt out of gold fabric if you can't find a gold belt. You can trace the design onto gold vinyl and attach it to your waist with a piece of velcro. You can either leave the belt as a solid band or add a star or Wonder Woman W to the front.Attach the shape to the center front of the belt with craft glue or hot glue, after cutting out the desired shape out of cardboard or thin foam that has been spray-painted red.

Step 16: Gold arm bands can be made from toilet paper rolls.

Unless you already own thick gold bangle bracelets, the easiest way to mimic Wonder Woman's arm bands is with toilet paper rolls. You can spray gold spray paint or cover gold craft paper if you cut each roll in half.If the cuffs don't stay on your wrists, add a piece of tape.tin foil can be used to wrap toilet paper holders to create a metallic look.

Step 17: A gold tiara can be created.

Wonder Woman has a tiara with a red star on it.The tiara should have a slight diamond shape in the center front, as it is worn around the top part of her forehead. You can make the tiara by covering a cheap headband with metallic gold fabric, wrapping paper, or foil.Place a red star on top of the tiara.A small red star can be cut out of fabric or red duct tape.

Step 18: A lasso is necessary.

You can use a few yards of rope for the lasso. If you want, you can spray paint the lasso yellow or gold. The rope should work if it's light in color. To recreate the lasso look, tie a loop at the end of the rope and hook it to your belt.

Step 19: You can make a sword and shield.

A plastic sword and shield can be purchased at a party store, costume store or toy store. You can make them yourself by tracing them and cutting them out of cardboard. You can draw or tape the W emblem on the shield, just like you did with the shirt.Wrap the blade in foil to give it a metallic look.

Step 20: Wear long waves with your hair.

You can style your hair in loose waves by wrapping sections around a curling iron and releasing them after a few seconds. If you don't have black hair, you can use a temporary dye.You can buy a wavy black wig from a party store if you don't want to dye your hair.
