Leather earrings can be a fun project that can leave you with a new accessory to wear.Basic circles and feather shapes are examples of patterns that range from simple to complex.To make attractive leather earrings, you will need leather, cardboard, scissors, earring hooks, and a hole puncher.
Step 1: A circle shape can be made out of cardboard.
You can trace your leather patterns with cardboard.Take a piece of cardboard and draw a circle on it in a pen.If you want your circle shape to be perfect, try tracing around a circle-shaped object such as a bottle cap.Use a pair of scissors to cut out your circle after drawing it.Go slowly so your circle doesn't change.
Step 2: Take the shape and put it on the back of your leather.
You can trace around your cardboard circle with a fabric pen on the back of the leather.These shapes will be your earrings if you trace the circle twice.Pick a color or pattern that you like.If you want earrings for a red outfit, use red leather.
Step 3: Take out your circles.
Carefully cut around each circle with fabric scissors.Slowly go.You don't want to cut circles for earrings.This will make your product look bad.
Step 4: The hole puncher can be used to create a hole.
Take a small puncher.You can use it to punch two holes in your earring.When you put the hoops in, the circles will fall down.The smallest hole puncher can be used.You don't need to have large holes in your earrings.
Step 5: Attach the earring hook through the hole.
Most craft stores have earring hooks.To open the loop at the end of the hook, you will have to use pliers or your fingers.Attach the hook through the holes in the earring.Once you've fitted the loop through the hook, use your pliers or fingers to close it.Close the hook completely.You don't want your earrings to get lost.
Step 6: The cardboard can be used to make a triangle.
You can use a ruler to create triangle shapes.You can choose from a variety of triangle shapes.You can either have three even sides or one or two longer sides.There is a triangle shape on a piece of cardboard.To keep the lines straight, use a ruler.Carefully cut out your triangle shape, keeping all lines straight.
Step 7: There are two triangle shapes out of black leather.
The backside of your leather is where you put your cardboard triangle.You can trace out two triangle shapes with a fabric pen.Cut around the shapes you drew.You should have two pieces of the same size of leather.
Step 8: The gold paint pen can be used to draw a pattern.
Draw a shape with your gold paint pen on the front side of your leather.The shape you draw is up to you.Patterns can be looked up online or you can make your own.Geometrical shapes include intersecting lines.Try drawing a variety of straight lines.If you need to keep your lines straight, you can use a ruler.You can either draw the same design on each earring or have a slightly different design.
Step 9: A hole can be punched through the tip of a triangle.
To punch a hole, choose a single corner.You don't need a large hole to fit the earring hook through with the smallest hole puncher.There is a hole on your other triangle.
Step 10: The earring hook needs to be through the hole.
The earring hook needs to be undone using pliers or your fingers.Through the holes you punched, fit the hook.Re-seal the hook with your fingers or pliers.Your earrings are done.You need to close the hooks completely.If you don't, your earrings may get lost.
Step 11: A feather shape can be made out of cardboard.
Draw a feather shape on a piece of cardboard.If you don't want to draw your own feather shape, you can print a template online.Cut out the shape you drew.Adding feathered edges is not something to worry about.You can cut the feathers into the leather.Take care of the sides of your shape.
Step 12: Cut out your leather feathers.
To trace your shape twice, use a fabric pen on the backside of your leather.Slowly cut around the shape you drew.Two feather-shaped pieces of leather should be the same size.
Step 13: The edges of the feathers should be fringe.
Take a pair of scissors with you.You can use it to make small cuts into your shapes.This will give your earrings a pattern of feathers.
Step 14: There is a line in the middle of each feather.
The light line runs down the center of the feather.This line can be created with a needle and thread.Pick a thread that is slightly similar to the color of your leather, but a little darker to stand out.Stitch a small dotted line down the center of each earring using your needle and thread.To secure the thread in place, tie a knot at the end of your feather.Remove any excess thread.
Step 15: Add gold tips with paint.
You can add a small gold tip to your feather earrings.This step is optional.If you want to apply paint to your earrings, you need to dip a paint brush in gold paint.You will have to separate the fringes of your earrings to prevent them from sticking together after you've added gold paint.
Step 16: Attach the hooks to your earrings.
There is a small hole in the tip of each earring.Use pliers or your fingers to open the hoops on the earring hooks.Attach the hooks through the holes.Close each hook tightly with pliers or your fingers.Make sure the hooks are completely closed so your earrings don't fall off.
