How to store dried lavender flowers, buds, and leaves.

Once you harvest and dry your lavender, the next thing to do is to store it properly until you are ready to use it.You can store lavender in a variety of ways.lavender will last for many years if you choose an air-tight container.

Depending on the intended use, you can store it in different ways. You can either leave the flower buds on the stems or collect them and store them separately.

The best way to store lavender is to use mason jars, plastic, glass, or metal containers. In the below photo, I store small amounts in mason jars.

I keep the jars in the bedroom next to the beds and on the bedside tables.During the day we keep jars closed, but at night just before going to bed, we open the jars and the scent makes us sleep better.

My favorite way to store small amounts of lavender is in transparent jars.

If you have a lot of lavender, keeping it in bottles is the cheapest way to store it.They were used as storage options for a lot of things.I find that using a metal or plastic funnel to pour buds into a bottle works well.It is easy to pour buds in and the bottle is full in a few minutes. The photos are here.

The bottle should be placed in a shaded place with a stable, low temperature and out of the sunlight.

Although I like to use free, recycled jars and bottles, I recently bought a couple of plastic storage boxes with a lid to store this year's harvest. The colors of dried buds will last longer if boxes are not transparent.I like to see my lavender in the transparent boxes. It is pretty.I can save space by putting boxes in the dark corner of my room.

You can get the storage boxes at your local store. They are inexpensive and practical. The boxes should have a capacity of 5 to 15 liters.lavender should be stored in an air-tight container.

If lavender is stored in an inappropriate way or not dried well, it can go bad.Make sure your containers are tight and dry before storing them.

It can last a long time. That is my experience.I have dried lavender buds that are 3 or 4 years old and still have a nice color and scent.Adding lavender oil or mixing it with a freshly dried one will refresh the smell as it fades over time.
