The gs500e's fuel valve has three positions. What is the purpose of PRI?What happens when you put on reserve?I think I accidentally rode it when it wasn't on the "on" position. How long will it last before it runs out of gas?

PRI stands for prime. It will allow the flow of fuel. There is a straw on the inside of the tank. The fuel can run out before the tank is empty. It should be in the ON position. The level of fuel in the float bowl on the carbuator is going down when you begin to feel a loss of power. There will be more loss of power until it quits running if you continue to ride. When you start to notice a loss of power, you switch it to reserve.Fuel is taken from the bottom of the tank.It is empty when you run out of reserve. If you want to know where the reserve position is, you should practice changing it to reserve while you sit on the bike.If you notice a loss of power when the fuel is on, you can switch it to reserve without looking.Go to the nearest gas station when you switch to reserve. Most bikes are on the reserve. You don't want to forget to put it in the ON position if you fill up at the gas station. The trip to zero should be reset after you fill up.You can see how many miles it will run by using this method. This is used for two purposes. You know how many miles you have traveled when you fill up.If you go too far on a tank and pull it to fill it up, you may find out that you forgot and left it in the reserve. There is a reason for keeping a mental tap on gas milage. If your bike starts to use more gas.Maybe it's time for a new air filter or spark plugs. Before they leave you stranded, you can start to diagnose problems.

Fuel valve? You are talking about the fuel petcock.I always turn the bike off when I park it for more than 24 hours. When I ride it is on "on" position and I run out of gas, which feels like a loss of power, so it's good to know how to reserve before the bike dies on you.If the bike runs out of gas, you will notice therpm getting lower and irregular. The indicator light on my bike doesn't tell me when to switch to reserve or how full the gas tank is.When I fill the gas tank, I zero the miles on the speedo so I know I need to look for a gas station once I go over 120 miles.I am about to run out of gas when I go over 130 miles and need to get ready for reserve. This is in town.Weekend rides give me better mileage because there are less stops. It's safe to ride.
