Step 1: Prepare a bath.
You need to make sure that the anal area is clean before you use a TUCKS® pad.Taking a warm Sitz bath is the best way to clean the anal area.If you prefer, you can take a full bath in a sitz bath.If you prefer the traditional Sitz bath, just fill the tub with a few inches of water.A Sitz bath can be purchased at a pharmacy or medical supply store.You can attach small basins to your toilet seat to wash your anal area.
Step 2: The salts should be added to the water.
For a small amount of water in the tub, add a cup or two of salts to a full bathtub.The water should be warm, but not too hot.The bath is repeated two times a day.
Step 3: If you can't take a bath, use a washcloth.
If you can't take a bath, get a cotton washcloth and soak it in warm water.You can apply the compress directly on the hemorrhoid three times per day or before using a TUCKS® pad.
Step 4: It's time to dry off your anus.
Dry your anus with a clean cotton towel.pat the area dryIf you rub the area, it may make the hemorrhoid worse.
Step 5: The package instructions can be read.
It is important to read and follow the instructions when using a brand or product.Before using the product, make sure you read the instructions in the package.
Step 6: To clean the anal area, use a TUCKS® pad.
After you have washed your anal area with a Sitz bath or a washcloth, use one TUCKS® medicated pad to gently wipe the area.As you wipe the hemorrhoid, be gentle.The hemorrhoid may be irritated if you rub the area too hard.Do not put the wipe in the rectum.The pad should only be used on the outer part of your anus and anal region.
Step 7: The used TUCKS® pad should be thrown away.
Throw the pad in the garbage or flush it down the toilet after you've used it.It is okay to flush the TUCKS® pads down the toilet.Don't reuse the pads.
Step 8: The process can be repeated six times a day.
If you want the best results, you should use TUCKS® pads six times per day.Continue the cleaning and medicating process if you have another bowel movement during the day.Clean the area gently.
Step 9: The area should be observed for signs of improvement.
You should see an improvement to your hemorrhoids within a few days if you keep the area clean and use the TUCKS® pads.Call your physician if there is no improvement.
Step 10: To relieve itching, apply 1% hydrocortisone cream.
To deal with itching in your anal region, apply 1% hydrocortisone cream.You can apply a small amount of cream to your anus.Before you use the package, make sure you read the instructions.
Step 11: An ice pack is needed.
The swelling of hemorrhoids can be reduced with ice packs.Make sure you don't use them for too long.You should only use five to 10 minutes at a time.To ice a hemorrhoid, wrap an ice pack in a paper towel and place it on the anal area.
Step 12: Wear cotton underwear.
Cotton underwear can help reduce the amount of water in your anal region.Synthetic fabrics tend to accumulate more water.
Step 13: Stand on your side.
Don't lie on your backside until the hemorrhoid heals.Try to lay on your side at night.It may help you to sit on a regular cushion.
Step 14: It's a good idea to take an over-the-counter pain remedy.
If the pain is bothering you, then you may want to take a pill.Do not exceed the recommended dose if you follow the package instructions.If the pain isn't gone after you take an over-the-counter pain relief, call your doctor.
